I'd say Where You Want To Be can rival some of Brand New's stuff. The last 3 albums from them though literally have just 5 songs I revisit.
I liked all of TW and most of the two albums prior to it. Brand New beats TBS in Lyrics and concepts; but I have always been partial to the catchy music I can sing along with in my car at the top of my lungs it's just the type of guy I am. TBS delivers that more often than BN for me. Critically I will admit Brand New is the better band.
You said it and you can't take it back. See that? Submitted him with passive aggressive disagreement.
I don't want to take it back, it's the honest truth in my opinion lol. For all intents and purposes, Brand New is technically the better band on many levels. However, in my personal tastes and how I enjoy music, TBS wins for me. But I'll always pick Blink-182 over both of them and NOT SORRY NOT SORRY NOT SORRY IM NOT SORRY
Car ride sing alongs are cool but nothing beats introspective music on late night drives alone. Science Fiction is perfect for that!
I seem to enjoy SF better when I'm at home alone on a quiet night, I cannot wait to listen to it on the first snowfall of the winter while I sit on my porch and drink a coffee. On car rides alone at night that's usually when I listen to new albums, or something catchy to keep me awake lol
As my saying always goes 'different strokes for different bloakes'. I openly accept that you and others feel this way without question
By the way, all my album brackets are ready for Thrice. I'll start a thread for the bracket when the Silverstein one is over.
I've always said that's one of the AMAZING things about music. Everyone has different tastes and sees things or hears things differently with each song. What you consider trash may mean the world to someone else, and vice versa. It can be where they were in their lives when that song came out, or how they interpret the lyrics. Anything, and it's beautiful. Except anyone who likes that makeout song. I question their role as a human being.
