"One Beautiful Morning" is a weird fit with the rest of this disc so far. I like it, but the live drums and general bright vibe are a big change.
Every SINGLE song floors me and makes me want to make a post lol it’s unsustainable. Waiting on the end of the world !
I really dig “Don’t Back Down” from the first disc. Feels like it could slot right in alongside some of those more country-leaning hits from Born in the USA.
Lots of cool stuff on L.A. Garage Sessions. "Don't Back Down On Our Love" and "Unsatisfied Heart" are my initial favorites. I had never searched out the bootleg of this so it's all new to me.
delivery man feels like a mcmurtry song would have to check but it might even be the same chords as choctaw bingo haha
i really like his last two LPs. choctaw is his best song but I don't think that album is the best edit: last two prior to the one that came out like last week. haven't listened yet. complicated games and the horses & the hounds are the ones I meant
Horses and the Hounds is his best imo. Then Childish Things and I recommend Live in Aught Three to get familiar with the highlights of his pre 2000s stuff. The first four or five records are kinda uneven and the production often leaves something to be desired but the good songs are among the best I’ve ever heard and the live album takes care of the production issues. Plus his best song isn’t on any studio records (Lights of Cheyenne) but is on the live album. Then if you dig that, the new one is great too and then I also think you would really really like Complicated Game from 2015.
Also yeah some days Choctaw Bingo is his best song instead. Other days it’s Canola Fields. Okay I won’t derail the Bruce thread anymore lol
Okay so far I’ve heard the first two and most of the last one. I’d heard a version of the garage sessions before but it had been a long time so that’s my favorite right now. Agree that The War on Drugs owe a lot to some of these songs, in the best way. Philadelphia sessions are awesome and a couple songs on there are among the best he’s put out post Tunnel of Love. Lyrics don’t do it for me in spots but it’s musically interesting enough throughout that that’s a minor gripe. And the best songs have gripping lyrics, see my comment last night about Something in the Well. Really loved Farewell Party too. Started to listen to Faithless but wasn’t feeling it. Skipped ahead and listened to a few songs each on the other records and obviously this is very preliminary but I especially liked what I heard on on Something North of Nashville and Perfect World. Seems there may be some songs on Perfect World that are better than tracks that made the last few E Street records; always curious what his thought process is there when a song could potentially fit thematically
Perfect World is the one I'm feeling the least so far. Some good songs on there, but it definitely feels stitched together and definitely feels like b-sides. Whereas a lot of these really are fully realized albums.
faithless and inyo just very much are not for me, basically deleted them from the library as soon as they finished. love the first two records, nashville record was a mixed bag but some stuff i liked twilight hours is a wild one so far
Kinda wild someone already ranked every song lol https://www.setlistkitchen.com/post...the-lost-albums-ranked?referral=business-feed
