  1. would definitely agree, I think I would consider Lucky Town more so underappreciated then Tunnel, but the argument can certainly be made for both. I recently picked up Magic from the record store and have been listening to that one a lot recently as well. Not sure where that falls on the spectrum of more or less appreciated but, it would probably not be ranked high on his discography but I think it's a heck of a record.

Tunnel was pretty well-received critically, at least.

I don't know about MOST underappreciated but I'm a pretty big fan of Devils & Dust, and I feel like most Springsteen fans I meet rank it towards the bottom of his catalog (see this thread for proof).

Devils and Dust is under appreciated. I like that record a lot. I still put it toward the bottom though, just because he has much better albums.

Post-Tunnel, it's one of the records I reach for the most, partly because I grit my teeth at how lousy the other O'Brien records sound and partly because I just love the songs and the stories.

I also think We Shall Overcome is great--joyous, uninhibited, fantastic songs. It definitely doesn't get its due.

To me I look at it as an underrated album, but most rankings people do I think it's fairly placed. Even a lower ranked Bruce record is still a good record.

When's a good time/setting to listen to Tunnel of Love or Lucky Town? Would like to rectify not having heard those.

For me it's a late night driving set of records.

Lucky Town's more of a windows down, sunny day one for me. It's a pretty optimistic record.

Probably just nostalgia, because the first time I listened to those two were at night.

I do think the title track is a top 25 Bruce song, though. I love the hell out of that song.

Next time you're bummin' hard, Tunnel of Love needs a spin.

I kind of wish he'd do another stripped-down record just so I could see him on the tour. I love listening to the Devils/Tom Joad-era boots.

Those boots are so good. Definitely would love to see a tour like that.

I really wonder when this new record is coming out. Supposedly it's been done for at least a year. Not sure what the hold-up is, now that all the book and River tour stuff is out of the way.

Whoever runs his social media is doing a lousy job too. Boring as hell.

You guys inspired me to give Tunnel of Love another spin tonight. "Ain't Got You" is such a 10/10 opener.

  20. I thought I had heard that the next album was going to be a solo/more stripped down record in the vein of Devils & Dust, and not a full E Street Band album, and he wanted to tour on it either by himself or with a much more stripped down backing band, which I imagine would mean smaller venues but I think Bruce with just an acoustic guitar would and could still sellout arenas multiple nights in a row.

Not sure what the hold-up necessarily is, but I welcome any news and and any new opportunities to see him live as soon as is humanly possible. Seen him and the ESB 5x now, would love to see him on his own.

It's a solo album, but not in the vein of Devils. I think he said it's unlike anything he's ever done before.

    what a waste of wood

What does everybody consider the worst album?

  23. Blaine Ryan

    .

For me? High Hopes. I think Human Touch is probably worse as a whole, but it's kind of like Dylan's Down in the Groove where a certain morbid curiosity keeps bringing me back to it. And I really like a few of the songs. The songs I like on Hopes I never listen to.

Probably Tom Joad is the one I come back to the least. But "worst" is very relative for him.

See I really like Tom Joad. But Nebraska is my all time favorite Bruce and that's probably the closest sounding
