Adam Scott and Scott Auckerman are doing the Springsteen discography next on their music/comedy/nonsense pod, I can’t wait to listen tomorrow: https://castro.fm/episode/RHYycj
ran through the first three today to catch up with scott & scott. i think more and more i prefer the debut to the follow up. wild innocent is more consistent but i prefer blinded by the light, lost in the flood, spirit in the night and the closer to anything off that obviously BTR is basically perfect (minus meeting across the river)
I think “Rosalita” is the best song on either of the first two albums, but I probably go back to Greetings more often.
Yeah, this has always been my view of that song. Also, just a perfect comedown from the “Born to Run”/“She’s the One” pairing that starts side B, and the ideal lead-in to “Jungleland.” I don’t think the closer hits as hard without that little seed of foreshadowed dread you get in “Meeting Across the River.” (Also, the trumpet part rules.)
(I'm sure no one will be surprised that I'm caping for the least-loved song on Born to Run, the one album on earth I think is end-to-end perfect.)
Meeting was my favorite song on that album when I was like 7 so I’ve got a soft spot for it for that reason haha. The trumpet did it for me I think
Yeah I love that song y’all are crazy. It’s like a one act play and the murky evening atmosphere is fantastic.
Define corny. Because if people mean 'heart on his sleeve'/ earnest, I agree and it's what makes Bruce, Bruce.
i remember when he opened up an encore one time with meeting across the river and i was like oh nice i bet he never plays this then the realization that theres no shot he doesnt immediately follow it with jungleland hit like a ton of bricks it ruled
I think both my dad and I can't make that rerescheduled Columbus date. Just getting real disappointed with rock dudes from NJ today
god, i love the river. such a good album opener, one of my favorite tracks of his. u2 meets the byrds done by bruce? fuck yeah!
