Oh wow I definitely thought more of the band appeared on Wrecking Ball. Probably knew that at some point but it has been 8.5 years I guess
I'm rooting for a full band record, and if it sounds like Magic that's great because it's mayyyybe my favorite album he's released since the 80s, but I'm just happy to get anything new from him so quickly
well the supposed track listing is... something. Makes me wonder if this is an outright new album or more of an archival / High Hopes sorta thing.
I'm here for whatever he wants to release. He's been cranking out a high rate of classics in the new millennium.
I was just thinking that, even if you pretend that The Rising is his debut and erase everything that comes before it, what he's done since is still a damn good catalog in and of itself. I think a lot of those albums tend to get underrated because of the sheer magnitude of his '70s and '80s output, but by my count, he's got four classics and a lot of other worthwhile stuff since 2003.
Yeah exactly. The Rising, Wrecking Ball, Magic and Western Stars is better than some artists do in their whole careers.
Bruce Springsteen's next album will be titled 'Letter to You' - NJArts.net @Matthewconte here’s a collection of the info from the site that’s taken down.
Plus some great songs to dig off High Hopes and Working on a Dream. Say what you will about those as full albums, they have some real highlights.
I was always under the impression "Janey Needs a Shooter" was just a sketch that Zevon finished. I wonder if he'll basically just be doing the Zevon version.
I'd really love someone to do a remix of Working on a Dream someday. I think I'd like those songs better if it didn't sound like the oxygen had been sucked out of all of them.
Thinking about Bruce and Warren's collaboration reminded me of one of my favorite raw Bruce guitar solos:
That bit about the three unrecorded songs from the 70s has me at full attention. Song is good. Looking forward to this.
Technically they've all been recorded before and have been circulated on various bootlegs and studio masters and stuff, this is just re-recordings. I really like "If I Was The Priest" and now I wonder if I'll like it better or worse with a proper performance but older Bruce vocals.
i've been holding out hope that somehow bruce and e street would figure out a way to do a live streaming concert sometime during all of this. i could really, really go for a 4 hour springsteen concert as ASAP as possible.
