It kind of crossed my mind that they might be overdoing the Holt getting exciting/shouting thing to the point where it's not special/out of character anymore, but then I realized I've still laughed literally every single time so whatever
I actually do think it's a problem now. I mean, I still laugh, but it's expected now. Much better when it wasn't. Still loving this season though. It's the best it's been in a while. They're getting better at weirder and more obscure references and whatnot.
I see it as the precinct breaking Holt out of his shell and now feels more comfortable in expressing himself. The outbursts of excitement is definitely played for laughs. But I sort of see it like how on The Office Kelly Kapoor was more soft-spoken and conservatively dressed in the first season.
