I thought the last season had some great moments, but the "future bit" got old pretty quick for me. And I didn't like that Johnny Karate episode almost at all, haha. Like most of these similar sitcoms, the shows are at their best when they're more grounded in reality instead of giving in and doing cheesy over-the-top zany situations nearly every episodes.
The future stuff was awesome. So many great jokes. Shia Lebeauf wedding dresses. The Gryzzl technology. The Chicago Cubs.
Hmm. I guess other than the gryzzl technology and the brief flashforward of whatever fancy mode of transportation Craig and Typhoon are on in their old age, I can't really think of too much that isn't grounded in reality compared to past seasons
I mean, in addition to what you mentioned nearly every single cultural reference or technological joke was based on an alternate future reality instead of playing in the world we all live in. Which, it's not a huge deal and it worked for some people. I just didn't find it funny after the 100th similar joke.
My favorite thing about sitcoms like Parks or B99 and whatnot is just spending time with the characters. There are tons of episodes that I don't even really laugh at, but I still like them because I'm spending time with them. But when they start being zany or whatever (Parks season 7, later seasons of The Office, etc..), I find the character moments are less and less and more time is focused on cheap jokes, so that's when they start to lose me.
Yeah but they had parallels to technology today, like Amazon's drones, and Apple/Google products listening to you and mining your data for advertising purposes, so it didn't really bother me. I do get where you're coming from, though
I still need to get into 30 Rock, I'm not sure why I haven't yet. Donald Glover being a writer on the show is enough to intrigue me alone
I'm the kind of guy who says Kathryn Bigelow should direct the new Star Wars, I've said that aloud to other guys you could never watch too much Ducktales it's my dream to have a golden coin pool, like Scrooge McD I hit him in the Cookie Monster which is what he calls his penis, he is the worst I'm in uniform, I thought you were yelling that because general excitement about uniforms, usually that's the case a yo-yo string the most dangerous part of the yo-yo I don't think he's ever hired a prostitute, is that the standard of a good guy I love when this show takes on real world issues
Yeah this one was really great, Holt's storyline was hilarious and the more serious Jake/Amy story was really well done. Melissa's performance in that one scene was phenomenal
Just finished the first episode with Dennis Haysbert and I expected this but I’m still upset!! I love him. Met him after a performance of Race and he was super chill and nice.
Fantastic episode. The flashes of Amy being harassed while Jake just had a normal day were really spot on. Melissa did a great job and its cool that Steph directed this one.
Yikes, not the best look, Terry. Also seems to be part of a conversation stemming from a tweet he deleted earlier for offending people, not sure what it was though.
wow I'm doing a whole lot of crying over this show today. highly recommended read Stephanie Beatriz on Directing Her First ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Episode
