Was there some reason for Rosa’s hair gag? Not that I disliked it, but it seemed like there were going to go somewhere with it and never really did
It had the purpose of showing that Rosa was in an invested relationship where she lets the other grow, was meeting her parents (hairdo number two), and then it all culminated in the reparations with her mom. Fantastic visual gag adding on to an emotional plot arc.
so I'm hella late on this because I'm only just catching up on this show but I just wanted to say the episode where Rosa comes out as bi to her parents is... absolutely fucking incredible
My question about its “purpose” was that usually when a show does something like that it’s meant to hide some physical change that the actor had to cover up for the sake of their character. A popular example being a pregnant actress always standing behind things to obscure their belly. So I figured that was what was happening here but instead of hiding it they decided to lean into it and make it as ridiculous as possible
The Box may be my favorite episode of the show. The smash cut when Holt starts screaming is so funny.
that and the quick cut to Jake playing the guitar and screaming had me absolutely weak it's also the kind of episode that makes you remember Samberg can *really* act when he wants to. season 5 has been blowing me away so far
I've been meaning to get into this show for a long time now as a Michael Schur fan, but never got around to it until last night. Holy shit I've been missing out haha such a solid comedy even from the pilot-on. Was laughing in tears a few times last night. Terry losing it while building his daughters' dollhouse was great. "WHAT KIND OF CASTLE HAS WHEELS!?" Also loved seeing Mary Elizabeth Ellis as the medical examiner in one episode.
I just started too! I’ve been going through this whenever I need something easy and lighthearted and it’s so much fun. Holt is incredible.
Damn, it's so hard to name my favorite character at least this far in. Probably somewhere between Terry, Jake, Boyle and Gina, but then I think of some funny moments from other characters and could see that list changing a lot. I love Terry Crews in anything I see him in, though. He was the highlight of Everybody Hates Chris, so it's awesome watching him costar in another television comedy
