Yeah that was a really refreshing new sound from Kevin. He's working on a solo album with the people who worked on Harry Styles' recent record rn, would love to hear him dive deeper into that zone.
I found out it was all Kevin fairly early in the day yesterday, was disappointed, woke up and started listening and I’m not disappointed anymore, this is great (the existence of a second project def helps enjoy TF for what it is)
Yeah I immediately played The Family (album) back because I really, really fuck with it. Complimenting the members on the closer kinda fucked me up. Beautiful project and sentiment. Def curious about TM, but happy with this being their finale tbh.
TM is very cool, feels like a spiritual successor to GINGER but darker, different for them. Matt did a really good job with the production. It's a good mix of bangers and vibey stuff. I do think you can tell it was a collection of demos that were produced to completion as opposed to a complete intended vision, so yeah, I prefer The Family so far, and honestly they should have been released in reverse order, but I'm just thankful to have two very listenable projects from a group I loved as a parting gift.
Really loving The Family. This group has meant a lot to me these last few years, sad to see it end. Glad I got to see their final (for now lol) 2 performances
I saw some comment somewhere saying this album reminds them of early college dropout/late registration Kanye and maybe that’s why I’m so in love with it
yeah the production (and even kevin's delivery) has that feel. gonna be a psycho now and rank these albums i've only listened to twice iridescence GINGER The Family Roadrunner Saturation 3 Saturation 2 TM Saturation TM could potentially surpass Saturation 2, maybe even 3 for me considering I don't go back to them much these days. honestly wildly impressive how consistent they were considering they dropped eight projects in five years and there's hardly a stinker in the bunch
Also gotta say they handled Ameer the best way they could on these final projects. No guest spot, no platform, but open honesty about Kevin's feelings and how difficult it was for him to deal and navigate within the group.
