It looked too thin to be the box set IMO but hopefully they keep the same cover either way. What they SHOULD do, however, is make different covers for each member like they did with the CDs.
One tiny little nitpick is in Dear Lord at the end when it's "want you to fight" and it clips. I thought maybe it was a streaming compression error, but it's that way on the CD too
They really knocked the pop songs out of the park on this. There’s only moments early in that don’t completely work
God I fucking love this album It's pretty easily their best post SATURATION album at least I think, which I never thought I would say because I really love Iridescence a lot. These guys are remarkably consistent
The live-stream was fantastic, definitely seek it out if you haven't seen it yet (reddit). Really gave all of the members a chance to shine and there's an unreleased song in there called Texas Is Watching (I think?) and it's phenomenal.
yeah that song (Texas Watchin' Me) is absolutely phenomenal. it was originally just Kevin's verse and a leftover from ARIZONA BABY but they must have reworked it for the full Brockhampton treatment, I'll be very happy if it ends up on the other record this year
Matt's "drug dealer, somebody that's gon heal her" hook has been looping in my head for like 3 days. legitimately catchier than the song's actual chorus
I'm glad we're getting one "final" BH album this year but is anyone else really excited for the solo projects phase? I'm really curious to see where all the members go We already know what Kevin will do, and have a pretty good idea with Matt (a lot more singing than he does in BH) but the others I really don't know. Dom's will definitely be straight up hip-hop, and probably Merlyn's too (although I could see his being weirder than Dom's). I think Bearface will make an artsy pop album with a lot of guitar influence, but Joba is the one that I really don't have a good idea where he could go, he has so much range
Idk, I think what makes them so exciting is the fact that they are a “collective” rather than solo artists.
some rumour was going around about RZA producing a Merlyn solo album I would very much like to hear that, yes
Count On Me definitely feels like a lesser Sugar. I'm really enjoying Roadrunner as a whole though. It’s maybe the closest thing to Saturation they’ve done since, although I quite pinpoint why - maybe a more optimistic feeling despite the weighty subject matter? Lyrics are probably the most pointed and effective too in their whole discography. And do you think all the features work? I will say that Ginger had more obvious highs/standout tracks, but maybe it’s a good thing that Roadrunner feels more on a level throughout. If I had to pick highlights, probably Buzzcut, Windows, What’s The Occasion, Don’t Shoot Up the Party and The Light pt. II
What would you say is Brockhampton’s best record? For me it’s a toss-up between Saturation II and III and yeah, this new one seems close (iridescence is also underrated IMO, there’s still a sense of freewheeling creativity even if the tone is more abrasive and difficult). I never really enjoyed Ginger, outside of a few key tracks.
