Haven't finished this yet but I have to agree with this, tracks 2-4 are not doing much for me at all.

 

Joba is saving my interest in the album right now.

 

This really picks up, I'll Take You On is a vibe.

 

Definitely.

Overall on first listen this hits me on a very similar level to Ginger, a handful of really great tracks, a handful of solid ones and a handful I don't really care for at all. Hopefully this grows on me more than that album did.

 

Every BH album first listen is a touch underwhelming for me and then about a week later I'm in love with it, so I know that'll happen here.

I am a little bummed how buried Merlin, Dom, and Bearface are, but I can't deny this thing has some bangers.

The production is super dirty and mid heavy and that's going to take some getting used to for me after the hyper polish that Ginger had.

Overall, can't wait for my CD to come in so I can listen to this properly with the windows down

The Light...just wow, if Bankroll was a bit disappointing, that has totally blown me away, may be their best song

 

I think this is their best album? I'm just more blown away with each listen.

 

Idk Chain On, The Light, and I’ll Take You On are all amazing. Only halfway through

 

We need more Jabari hooks, Old News is so catchy

 

This is pretty good. Very casual fan of theirs whose favorite is Iridescence.

 

Fuck both of Joba’s verses on The Light songs hurt

 

This album is following Ginger’s pattern in that the closer wrecks me emotionally

 

I've been a fan since the Saturation trilogy started and this was easily the most I've enjoyed any of their records on the first listen. This is an incredible record.

 

SoGone So Flexy is so good

 

but initial thoughts are I like this more than ginger but I don’t think it’s harder than iridescence for me

 

Early AOTY contender for me tbh

I really did enjoy this album! Not sure if I like it more than Ginger (too early to tell for me), but wow some of these tracks hit hard, especially The Light Pt. II. Wish there was more bearface, Dom, and Merlyn though

 

I definitely agree with this! Hope he does more hooks in the future, he bodied Old News!
