Yea I just finished Windows and this has been great so far, the back to back of The Light and Windows is wild
I'm not drunk lol it's just good as hell. So much of Joba's shit is hitting extra hard knowing what he's been through
Yeah, so I've obviously only listened once but this is easily their second best after Iridescence. Give me that vinyl preorder. Maybe one track I didn't vibe with and I could use more Dom, but it's not like he's not here and I know his parts will stand out on repeat listens. Otherwise, dummy good and I will hear no slander
Joba was always dope people were just wrong. he definitely dominates this and I'm happy because he's fucking amazing on it but it's a shame that has to come with so little bearface, Merlyn and Dom also the run from 2-4 is just a big hurdle for me. once I'm past there it's smooth sailing but those three tracks so early in the album just kills my vibe ngl
"Count on Me," "Bankroll," and "When I Ball" are the three weakest moments for me but I definitely fuck with "Chain On"
I honestly liked the OG "Chain On" from TD way more. probably gonna be in the minority there but the "hold me" outro was beautiful and I liked how it sounded with the lo-fi type mix. the completely abrupt ending after Dom's verse on the album version made me laugh honestly ngl
honestly if one song from TD really deserved the remix/streaming treatment it should have been "baby bull". legit could have been one of their biggest singles ever I think
Old News-When I Ball run is a bit weaker than the rest on my first listen but still, definitely highly enjoy the album and I know some of yall ain't trying to downplay Peggy
I've been a casual fan of Brockhampton for a few years. Saw them at a music fest in 2018 and really enjoyed the set. This is very good. Bankroll goes hard.
They went live on KevinAbstract's tiktok account earlier. Played some absolute bangers and said they're thinking of releasing them for real. This account has posted a small fraction of the stream but I'm sure the full thing will be up later today!
Wow kind of surprised by the mixed response in here, I think this has a pretty damn good case for being their best full album. - Joba is just incredible on the whole thing, his verses on both Light songs are some of the most heartbreaking rap verses I've heard in a long time, and What's the Occasion is amazing. He really proved to me here he's fully capable of a solo career, which is something I kind of doubted before - Kevin and Matt also kill it throughout, Don't Shoot Up the Party is amazing. Weirdly I think Dom is the member that is on this the least, I really didn't expect that, especially when he was all over Iridescence which I think is the closest sound they've done to this - Speaking of which, the production on this is just incredible. Even though this is the first time they've worked with outside producers (shoutout to Chad Hugo on the When I Ball beat), Romil just remains an absolutely phenomenal beat maker that I think has a good chance at being the most successful of the group after the split. This is like a mix of Iridescence with some 90's hip-hop and even some good rock influences in there - Other songs I love that I didn't mention in this weird writeup/review thing are Buzzcut (still hard as hell with amazing verses from both Kevin and Danny), Chain On, Windows (like a quasi-sequel to Heat), and I'll Take You On (has a good chance at blowing up with that amazing chorus) I fucking loved my first listen of this
This ruled, muuuuuuuch better than Ginger. Definitely kinda bummed nothings quite in the vein of Buzzcut, but The Light, Windows, Whats The Occasion, and Dont Shoot Up the Party all rule.
I haven't heard this yet but if Dom isn't on it much that better mean he's all over that second album they're supposedly putting out.
Easily their best project since the Saturation trilogy. Both of The Light's are just insane. So happy with this project.
