Song is dope, super catchy. Not a huge fan of the production on Oli's voice but other than that this is cool.
Yeah I dig it a lot. The first chorus sounds a bit awkward to me but the rest is great, love the idea of mixing the super poppy sound with the screaming.
This is so much more interesting to me than MGK. The guitar solo is great and the chorus hook is titanic. The verses leave a bit to be desired. But it will be in rotation for sure.
It’s a bit melodically derivative in parts, like I’ll be heavily reminded of other songs at times… Post Malone’s “I Fall Apart” is a big one… but production-wise and aesthetically, it’s bang on!
No argument on the production. Fish is a fucking genius. Percussion absolutely hits, the low end growls, Lee’s guitar is a melodic buzzsaw and there’s just enough effect without being overdone. I also think Oli, auto tuned or not, sounds phenomenal.
Holy SHIT I figured out what sort of bugged me about the solo, even though I liked it (and I swear the next part is a compliment): It’s almost thematically, tonally and pitched identically to the keyboard solo from “Versace on the Floor” by Bruno Mars. It’s a ripper! And I can’t wait to hear it live. But wow, they are VERY similar.
There's some songs in BMTH's catalog over the past few records that the vocal melodies reminded me of as well. Have to revisit to give specifics.
It's like this era's "Drown" in terms of how they've shaken up their dynamic. It's different, but works well for them. Can see this being huge in a live setting. Very excited to hear more as we go into this new EP.
