Really digging the track with Underoath. Love the layering of Spencer and Aaron's vocals. Other standouts so far are Rip (so good) and DArkSide. Overall, this thing is goooooood.
I think it works! Lol So did putting YOUtopia in the penultimate slot but I think it’s an epic song that fits better there
Been through this album three times and with the exceptions of top 10 statues and amen, there's at least one glaring flaw with every song on here that keeps me from enjoying them to their fullest extent. Whether it's the fact that it feels unfinished (limousine) to the mix (bullet) to the imbalanced structure (dig it) to basically everything instrumentally (n/A), I'm really having trouble enjoying this like I do with every other record that BMTH has pulled off. The whole thing feels just as messy as its own rollout. They can write a hell of a chorus though, and I'll always appreciate that. This is the one time I'll be a hater on this site (to this extent,) but I'm just really disappointed considering how amazing Survival Horror was. As an album, it's nowhere close to the worst thing I've heard. There's enough here that I would recommend someone listen to it and form their own opinion. I just wanted an album experience from this group that made me excited for a full body of work again.
I definitely got the vibe from the few tracks I’ve listened to so far that there’s just a bit too much going on sometimes and the stuff that’s going on isn’t always great
yeah but both are directly lifted from half of deftones or chevelle’s discog it is a little uncanny but unsurprising when you start with the same source material as an influence
I get that for sure, obviously they're "ripping off" Deftones in the same way like 10,000 bands now are but to me the Moodring song feels more broadly influenced as far as tone, vocal timbre/cadence etc. and the BMTH song feels more like a near 1:1 rip than that
Deftones are my fav band and I've listened to their entire catalog ad nauseum and I didn't recall any specific song of theirs as immediately or strongly listening to the Moodring song as I did clocking Limousine specifically to the Moodring song is all I'm trying to say lol
I just don’t think it’s surprising anymore when two bands come to the same conclusion using the same formula and am hesitant to call anything a purposeful rip off without solid proof or even admission from the artist
Probably my biggest issue here is that Jordan Fish didn’t produce the whole album. I think that really shines through.
I dunno, I might just have to chalk this up as “not for me”. Top 10 is cool, but I just find the hyperpop influence muddies up the songs and makes them too busy. Record feels all over the place, and not in a good way as of right now. EDIT: Limousine is cool. I’ve yet to be disappointed by a song when my first reaction is, “huh, this sounds like Deftones”. Ape them all you want, they’re a great band to copy. EDIT 2: Lost is still a pretty good MCR copy EDIT 3: Daryl and potentially Oli’s harsh vocals? sound so good on Amen. Probably my favorite song so far. I think I only listened once or twice to it as a single. EDIT 4: when I said I wanted Post Malone to do more guitar based music Die4U is not what I had in mind. also, I feel like there are really awesome riffs and lead guitar parts that come out of nowhere that are so good they feel out of place. this closer… y’all I dunno. I thought Oli’s lyrics were corny but fun when I was a 16 year old blasting Suicide Season as loud as my car could handle, but I just don’t buy it anymore, it’s just cringey to me. Fin.
For real? The chorus feels exactly like a classic MCR chorus. The delivery of “why am I this way?” couldn’t sound more MCR if they tried.
Wow, this was way better than I expected. I think this legit just made me want to buy a copy of this on vinyl now.
