I feel like Nex Gen at least plays into the dorkiness whereas some of the earlier stuff feels a bit overly serious which makes the weaker lyrics come across more clunky. I think the main thing that separates the Post Human albums for me is how well they mix the heaviness with the poppier side, which just makes them a more consistently interesting and enjoyable band. The run from There is a Hell to Amo had some really great songs scattered throughout but I find them all pretty inconsistent.
i liked survival horror but i really think this band needed to stick to the ep concept here. maybe like 6 good songs and the rest of it is brutally hard to sit through. i guess its better than cyb and thats the spirit which both have like one or two good songs each, but it also had the most potential and actively sabotages itself the hardest. the other two are at least cohesive in what they want to be even though what they want to be in both cases are things i find not great there is a hell is kinda the only answer for me, but semp at least has a really high ceiling and only like two or three bad songs, and while amo is a minefield the more electronic exercises are the most inspired and engaged theyve sounded to me since the metalcore days, outside of the daryl palumvo appearance. wouldnt say its a great album but it lands significantly better for me than this
I like that this album is all over the place, it's like me fr. But I actually do wish more bands would not feel compelled to stick to a singular sound or approach. The bands that hit hardest for me are the ones who switch things up from one song to the next. I like not knowing what to expect.
It also helps that I am a fan of nu-metal and anime theme songs, two things that I think this album devoured in equal amounts.
I love amo. Wasn’t expecting to hear that when it came out , it’s such a fun listen all the way through.
On that one the only song I don't really like is Blacklist but the only songs I love are Crucify Me, It Never Ends and Don't Go. The rest range from solid to very good.
I think part of my issue with a lot of that album is all the gang vocals. I've never been a huge of them.
Dang, I usually can't make it through that song without crying. But I hate myself, so those lyrics hit pretty hard lol
Sempiternal There is a Hell Survival Horror NeX GEn That's the Spirit Amo Suicide Season Count Your Blessings I've always felt like Sempiternal isn't just the best BMTH album, it's one the best albums of that genre. I like all of the albums to different degrees, but Sempiternal stands alone imo.
There Is a Hell Sempiternal Suicide Season Survival Horror Amo Nex Gen That's the Spirit Count Your Blessings Amo and Nex Gen are pretty even, Nex Gen has higher highs but lower lows so I give the full album edge to Amo
Next Gen That’s the Spirit Survival Horror Amo Sempiternal There is a Hell Count Your Blessings Suicide Season
I might be the only one who really isn't that excited about a rerecord of the OG. I love that kind of music, but I didn't discover BTMH till after that album so I've got no nostalgia for it. We will see if hearing modern versions of the songs gets me into it. I'm a big fan of where their sound has ended up. I don't want to see every band chase a 'poppier' or electronic sound but what BMTH did with it was truly the pinnacle of that evolution.
I am 100% guilty of not doing that lol. I was just going off of Insta hype and comments elsewhere. If a lot of ya'll agree with me, high five.
Haven't been anywhere close to as invested with BMTH as in years past, but this is where I'm standing right now: That's The Spirit There Is A Hell Survival Horror Suicide Season Amo Sempiternal Next Gen Music To Listen To Count Your Blessings
