Uhhh the beginning of Teardrops is Somewhere I Belong, and they have a song called Itch for the Cure, haha. They are wearing the Linkin Park "influence" on their sleeve.
This shit is great, really surprised at how much I like it. Feel like they've found a perfect mix of their sounds here for me.
The Amy Lee feature on the closer is honestly the best performance I’ve heard from her in years lol. They matched her sound perfectly too. This whole release is super strong. Definitely my favorite overall release from them since Sempiternal.
I really like just about everything they've done but this might be the best they've put out in a while. Also really love Kingslayer. But that opener is great!
I'm still not a fan of the Yungblud feature. It just doesn't bring much more to the song. Could have been Oli singing his part and it wouldn't have been much different tbh.
Honestly took me a while to hear the difference between their voices. And I definitely don't prefer Yungblud so.
Yeah Yungbluds voice was pretty much the one thing I didn't like. His part is still pretty good despite him.
People really think this is better than TTS or Amo? Man. I can’t wait to hear this thing because those are stone cold classics to my ears.
I think this is way better than those two but I also thought they were pretty mediocre with only a few good songs.
This is their best release since Sempiternal by far and I expect the consensus to reflect that claim. I wasn't expecting it to harken back to their older/heavier style that much, even if it's scattered. The opener in particular should please their earlier fans.
With all the Linkin Park references, plus the fact they know each other and have performed together, I'm almost suprised they didn't get Mike Shinoda on this.
I can understand them not wanting to write so many screaming songs anymore. They clearly have an ear and technical chops for melody and big hooks. I think Teardrops straddles that line perfectly. Could have been a Sempiternal B side, could be the new evolution. Same thing with Ludens, which is an absolute monster live if the Tokyo video is to be believed. It’s like they cracked their own code now. I can’t wait to hear this.
