this really blends the best of their past 3 albums tbh

 

GIVE ME A BRRRREEEEEEEAAAAAAK... ok

 

It's funny going on other sites and seeing people be like "omg they have a breakdown again" or "better than anything off amo"

but yea I quite enjoy it, really dig the chorus and such

 

Just got around to listening to Ludens... What a cool track.

 

Song is cool for the most part but this video is lol

It’s for a video game? Silly. Splicing in some video game footage in with it? Terrible.

 

What's wrong with it being for a game? That's not exactly a new concept lol and we got a cool song out of it


Splicing in the game footage yea sure but they probably were obligated to do that as part of advertising

If it’s a song they had already written and was placed into a game - then yeah it’s whatever.

However, a song being written for a video game is just corny/gimmicky to me. I know it’s not a new idea but I’ve always found it so.

 

Eh, I don't think it's worse than having a song written for a movie.

 

How much does it really matter what the song was written for if you like it?

 

What are your thoughts about video game music in general then? Is there a line between what's a video game song and "song being written for a video game?" This is fascinating to me.

I think actual composition, like a score if you will, for video games are interesting and respectable as hell. I am not a big gamer aside a few but I can dig that.

However, a (let's face it) pop band making a song for a video game? Just for promotion? Just seems corny to me.

Very true. I also think that gimmick is played out.

Well in my original post I said the song was pretty good but that the video was cringe for many reasons.

Being a promotion for a video game was one of them.

 

Side note: while I miss the There is a Hell/Sempiternal days of this band (and disliked most of Spirit) - I actually really liked Amo.

 

Can't really blame them for getting that $$$$

 

I mean I see it more as something they genuinely wanted, they went to visit Kojima (director of Death Stranding) back in like August I think it was and gave him a bunch of their stuff and of course there's Shadow Moses which is literally a Metal Gear reference, of which Kojima was the creator behind as well. They're very big fans of Kojima.

 

Oh not at all. I say go for it. However, if it still comes off as corny - at least in my opinion - I will call it such. I doubt they care very little of what any fan thinks as they're cashing that check lol

i like the new song, video was pretty cool actually, and i wouldn't mind hearing some more stuff like this on their next album

I still listen to Amo, probably one of the most listened to albums for me this year

 

On a big Bring Me The Horizon kick this week. amo still holds up, I don't think there's a single track that I don't like.

Been listening to There Is A Hell a lot too. The drop in the song 'F**k' always gets me, it's so good.

 

There is a Hell.. will always be my favorite record of theirs.

 

Still think it's cool to see the band now occupy the space Linkin Park used to occupy, in terms of that style of music, a fusion of styles and all that. One of the reasons why the band is quickly becoming one of the bigger rock bands in the world
