Well then maybe it’s time for some journalist to do their job and get to the bottom of this. I would rather not support him if it’s the case.
If the girl from the incident would even want to be dragged into it again after it was thrown out of court. We won’t ever know the exact details but BMTH and Oli are not musicians that I spend money on anyway (the accusations being part of the cause).
I really like this whole record (bar the one nu-metal-y one), but holy shit "Heavy Metal" is ballsy and fucking good.
Just was about to post the same comment. It's been years, (literally was the topic of discussion with BMTH, with people poking fun of the band up until Sempiternal was released), and brought up again here recently as months ago.
It doesn't, because he hasn't gone out of his way to make amends at all for any of the accusations. He hasn't taken responsibility or been held accountable for his actions - hasn't acknowledged the abuse he did to that girl, or the physical abuse he did to his ex-wife either.
The thing that happened with urinating on a girl was super big news when it happened, but it also happened in 2007 way before these guys were all that big. People didn't care about that stuff back then and since it's been 12 years and the victim never said anything else after the case was dropped there aren't really people talking about it anymore. Re: allegations that he abused his ex wife, unfortunately I think people think adultery is worse, so they'll give it a pass.
I've been a fan of this bamd for 4 years, a member of this forum for 2, and have never heard these stories before. Honestly it's kinda heartbreaking. Like I'm generally pretty forgiving with this stuff if the artist properly addresses it, as long as it's not a case of 1. Violent Abuse or 2. Serial Abuse of Platform, but this seems to be a pretty clear case of 1. Idk, I feel really confused, cause of how Oli & the gang have been integral to my view of the scene since day 1. Debating taking their songs off my phone and cancelling my plans to see them live, which is something I haven't done for any band/artist ever. Idk, I still need to think this over, but wow. Out of curiosity-- does anyone know exactly what Oli did to Hannah that made her go public with that? Not that it matters, but I kind of want context for that specific allegation.
i haven't read into the more recent allegations about abusing his wife... but, when the band was starting out during the count your blessings era, i feel like it was common knowledge that they were wild and inappropriate, and it was part of their edgy image, that they were being banned from playing shows at places, that they were huge assholes, and the whole pissing on a fan rumor. i feel like a lot of people knew, accepted, and dare i say even liked, the fact that this was their image. so that may be why the whole ordeal was never really viewed as a career ending sort of thing, if anything it gave them more press and got their career started, before they changed their approach.
I don't want to talk about BMTH, but I do want to say kudos on an excellent selection of Grimes tracks. Don't think I could have picked a better one myself.
thanks man. I do tend to enjoy her more poppy/basic side. speaking of more poppy: check out this utter madness @beachdude haha
apparently this is the direction she has planned for her next record. stoked on it. shame about the whole beef with ol' grimesey.
Lmao, go to r/metalcore if you want to be cohorts with a bunch of edgy 14-y/o's who wanna ignore this. Like no one's saying you're bad person for liking the music, but it's fair that it makes some people uncomfortable and we want to listen to other people's perspectives and make informed decisions.
I just listened to this record and thought I would come here to see what others are saying about the MUSIC. One click, and the page is littered with people that just want to talk about things Oli has been accused of in the past. They are reprehensible if they are in fact true, I am not saying the allegations are nothing to look past, but all this site is nowadays is a community that just coalesces in rehashing allegations made against musicians (in this case, one allegation is from 2007). I digress...guess that's the way of the world now...
now you're telling me to kill myself? mature AND cool, what a cool place this is has risen to be from the ashes of absolutepunk
Imagining thinking women are a political talking point and not actually half the population. Hey buddy guy, can you clear this up for me? How is this a political issue?
