The gross incident with the fan was a long while ago, I remember it happening back when I was still on MySpace, but then it clearly wasn't enough of a talking point back then (edit: did a bit of digging in some old forums and their fans' reactions are appalling - i.e. blaming her and calling her a wimp). The ex-wife thing I heard about from a mutual friend of hers, and I'm pretty sure she outed him publicly. With the amount of success they're getting though, it's probably in their best interest to keep all of this covered up, so I reckon that's why so many aren't aware.
RE: the pissing incident, there was a court-case which got dismissed due to 'lack of evidence' - despite an eye-witness. I remember images of her face after being smashed in with a bottle got circulated around for a while, and it was grim. RE: his ex-wife: she has publicly accused him of physically abusing her. I also know someone who is close with her, and have been around both of them, so that's enough for me to believe what they say.
I think doomed, follow you, and drown are the clear top 3 on TTS on and par with their best. The rest are a mix of fine to really good; I think amo is generally more cohesive and consistent.
RE: this. Another friend just tweeted me this: 'I remember this happening. My friend met a kerrang reporter who was in the tour van when it happened, they said they couldn’t say anything publicly though as they signed a gagging thing about what they saw in the van so they could do the interview in true first place.' If that's true, that's also total gross negligence on the Kerrang reporter, their priority/responsibility as a reporter is out of whack.
What’s a good place to really start with her music imo? Gonna check that track, but I’m also wondering which album would be the best starting point.
ok brother here we go, put this in a playlist FLESH WITHOUT BLOOD REALITI OBLIVION KILL V MAIM GENESIS BE A BODY WE APPRECIATE POWER enjoy her latest album Art Angels is the most accessible and arguably the best one.
The way people are blindly praising this band and album between posts detailing horrific allegations of abuse has really got me fucked up.
i mean, the same articles have been brought up multiple times i’ve seen throughout this site. really don’t think that many people are blind to this.
The people who've already seen the shit Oli Sykes has done and still give this band the time of day probably don't care. Whatever. I'm out. Have fun with this abusive prick and his scumbag enabler bandmates.
I'm pretty sure that the official statement is that he was heavily on drugs and since has gotten help.
I'm not trying to excuse it, but I think if someone goes out of their way to make amends that's... a good thing?
