BMTH has never been a very lyrical band at all to me... especially on a hooky track like this, I’m not expecting anything particularly deep. I think the lyrics are memorable enough and fit the melodies well.
I haven't liked the lyrics a whole lot since after Sempiternal. I feel like it went downhill from there, especially with True Friends and Wonderful Life. (Although, I did like the lyrics of Doomed and What You Need from TTS).
I really don't like this. I keep giving each album a chance but I'm betting this one also won't be for me.
hilarious how this dude relies on playbacks so often at their live shows don't record parts you can't at least attempt to recreate live
Tell that to Drake lol (In all seriousness I agree, I’m not a fan of really blatant singing backtracks, regardless of genre. I think it’s fine if you’re using them for additional vocals like a choir, since obviously most bands/artists aren’t gonna bring a full choir on tour... but if you’re basically using the backing track to replace LARGE parts of your own live vocals it’s lazy to me.)
This is pretty easily the best song from the album so far but it's still weaker than most of Sempiternal/TTS
I think this is easily the best of the 3 songs and I’m sure I’ll really like like half the record but all in all I really miss metalcore bmth.
The video makes me really uncomfortable, which I guess is what they were going for but I wish I listened to it first without watching the video tbh Song's alright, didn't like it when it started but by the end it started to grow on me. Mantra is still probably my favorite of the 3 released.
I actually really like this. Hearing how poppy it was made me worried but I dig it. So far though I’m liking TTS more
This is fine but Follow You did the same thing and was much better. None of the singles have impressed me. For all the talk about this album being different and diverse, I just hear a band treading waters.
Well that's because they backtracked the chorus chant vocals completely overpowering him, and the verses are so safely in his lower register. It is what it is. I'm still gonna have an absolute blast at the show.
And a healthy dose of post-production. He has definitely progressed though, I've got to give it to Oli.
i enjoyed that live video quite a bit, glad he threw some ridiculous screams in there. and i actually really like medicine... it's stupidly catchy and the production sounds really good
