Revisited this last night. I appreciate that these guys could have done anything and opted for "104 minutes of child abuse and murder with zero bankable movie stars." These directors' facility with young actors is incredible and so are the practical makeup effects. I also love how despite the unremitting bleak sad gaslighting terror there is in fact one (and exactly one) very funny little sequence - Hawkins rushing to clean the house before her co-worker arrives.
