I liked the single. It sounds like Bright Eyes, both in Conor's delivery and the lyrics which are core for me. They've touched so many styles instrumentally over the years that it could have been anything, but this has the right amount of quirk and flare to it for what it is. If its a good indicator of the rest of the album it will at least be good, but in my heart of hearts I'm hoping for something great.

Give me another Lifted, my dear sad wordy boy. From one to another. And close it with something nice and long that has the kitchen sink thrown in.

 

Closer doesn’t need to be long or overly wordy. It just needs to bring the heat like Road to Joy

I think I like these two songs the least of any lead singles from a Bright Eyes/Conor Oberst record in the time I've been a fan, but I have faith I'll still end up liking the record as a whole.
