This is neither here nor there but I always thought it’d be a cool idea for a concept album to be made of songs written purely after articles in a local paper. Album could be called Headlines and track names could all be the article titles.
Track List: 1) Kids Table 2) Cairns (When Your Heart Belongs To Everyone) 3) 1st World Blues 4) Sharp Cutting Wings (Song To A Poet) 5) It Always Feels Good And It Never Hurts 6) Dyslexic Palindrome (feat. Hurray for the Riff Raff) 7) Shakespeare In A Nutshell 8) Victory City
Honestly I’m pretty excited for this. Both these songs are quite good, like them more immediately than anything on the last album. Historically his EPs have been fantastic; he seems able to get off some ideas that he wouldn’t otherwise without the freedom.
great song I liked the last album a lot, only a few weak tracks for me, but I'm still super excited for this
Where are you seeing that option? It looks like it's now sold out on Bandcamp, and the lowest option for me on Merchtable is UPS Ground at $19.13, which is extreme for a single LP to be mailed to New York.
caught them last night and they ruled. so glad he encored with lets not shit ourselves instead of one for you one for me.
Good track, I think what most surprises me is this would have been just at home on a Bright Eyes record 20 years ago from the sound of it. Fits right in with something off of Lifted. I don't know how to quantify it, but there's a lot of bands I listen to that wish they could sound like they did back when. Not just a voice but the style, the tone, the feel. This seems effortless and natural. Bright Eyes EPs don't miss.
This EP reminded me to revisit Four Winds for the first time in a while. Some of my fav BE tracks are still on that one.
