Liked this a lot on first listen, but seemed a bit weaker lyrically than his batting average in that department. Berninger part was an instant groan from me, but that song is great by the end.

feels like an overall disappointment to me but i’m gonna have to sit with it for a bit.

 

It’s pretty much just another Bright Eyes album to me but I like what they do so I like this

 

Bas Jan Ader, El Capitan, Train Still Run on Time, Real Feel 105, Bells & Whistles, and Rainbow Overpass are all immediate hits for me.

Spun Out, The Time I have Left, All Threes, Tiny Suicides are growers.

Tin Soldier Boy and Hate I'm still processing.

I see myself coming back to this way more than I did for DITW (and I really like DITW) but something about this album seems much more accessible.

 

Yup, early favorites for me are: El Capitan, Bas Jan Ader, Real Feel 105 & Spun Out.
