    Jackson Sinnenberg, writing at Medium:

When we were doing the designs for merch I was like “I don’t care what I like. What do we think the people who come to our shows will like?” That’s what it should be! It’s not about me. I’m happy to be there, I’m not going to be phoning it in! I’m happy about giving it to them. I don’t look at it like it’s a bad thing. I’m happy there are people there to take it. Like if you asked Ian [MacKaye] the same way how he felt about Fugazi; “Whose band is Fugazi right now?” I bet Ian would say “Not mine, Not Guy’s. It’s their band.” It is! It’s their band! They’re maintaining the house, they’re trimming the garden because their memories do it. It’s become part of their lives now. So, it’s hands off for me.

I like his comments on the merch. I hate going to a show with the hopes are getting a shirt and all of the designs are just awful.

  3. he's so matter of fact in a way that almost seems rude or obnoxious but it's so genuine, if that makes any sense. i love reading things he has to say about anything.

    Aaaachem!

When I went to see Alk3 at House of Blues, the mezzanine had different merch than the floor: different shirt designs, fewer options, no posters, etc. They wouldn't let us downstairs to the main merch table. I couldn't believe it.

I feel like he talks about Gaslight the way Harrison talks about Star Wars... oh wait... ;)

I tried listening to The '59 Sound again a little while back and I don't know why, but it just didn't sound like it had aged that well to me. Obviously the songs are good and I had a real sweet little trip down nostalgia boulevard listening to "High Lonesome" again after a while but it just didn't hit me all that much. Something about the songs was just lost on me after all this time and I'm not sure what it was.

But I cannot stress how important this album was for me when it came out. I spent the summer of 2008 playing the shit out of it and even when I listened to it and wasn't super moved all over again, the memories it had for me were still there and felt nice to revisit.

That article was painful to read, whatever happened to grammar, editing...

    Interesting read.

You can see through this interview how genuine everything was in GA, and I think that is why their sound worked how it did.

As a fan, I get somewhat disappointed that the reunion shows are just this, because that means there is really no chance of seeing them live here in Brazil.

But it’s for the better I guess. No show is better than a half-assed show.

  9. I wonder what festivals they turned down in deciding to do smaller shows. My assumptions are Lollapalooza & Boston Calling, since he mentioned one of the festivals specifically being where they were routing the reunion shows, and both of those festivals fell around the original reunion dates (Boston Calling) and the asbury dates (Lolla).
