It's less about songs that I would cut and more that I've come to feel like a few of those songs go on for a little bit too long. "Little Nightmares" is a good example of a song I like that I think has 1-2 too many chorus repetitions.
Also, I really love this new track. That's definitely a shift toward a more country/Americana sound, which I am definitely here for after the big, bombastic, R&B-inflected Sleepwalkers. Also sounds like he's a bit more comfortable than he was with this kind of sound on some of the tracks on Painkillers.
I love the song. The crispness of the percussion sounds really stuck out to me. All in on a country/Americana sounding record. Now release the preorders and take my money.
But it used to be. Look back at a lot of albums from the 70's and 80's. A LOT of albums used to only have between 7 and 9 songs with 8 being an average number.
U.S. tour info for ya. Justin Townes Earle and Worriers? What a sweet lineup. Hopefully more dates to come.
Incredible new song. Brian has become one of my (if not my) favorite solo artists the past 5 years. Sleepwalkers means everything to me.
So he's no longer on Island. The Gaslight contract is probably up then, too. That *might* actually mean something to them touring again.
ugh, dates had to drop during the final throes of holiday spending. may have to skip this one if its gonna sell out right away.
So I’ve never had the desire to get married. BUT after hearing this song, I now want to marry only so I can have this be our first dance. Good god this is good.
He originally described Painkillers as an album that sounded like America. Sleepwalkers has a Clash and An older R/B Motown influence. Kinda expected him to switch it up again, and maybe work on alt indie influenced sound. I love Brian’s music, and appreciate the natural diversity of what he does. Just didn’t think that’s where he was headed. Haven’t listened to the single yet.
