omg, Chris Farren is on Sittin Round at Home rn and Brian is trying to use that connection to get Jeff Rosentock on a future episode. we are fuckin blessed.
they didn't play much music, but it was a blast watching brian and laura stevenson talk about music and life. they're also pretty hilarious together.
I feel like Brian was hoping to have her offer to do a song (writing or making an appearance) at some point. Who knows with doing these things if any artists work together or make guest appearance some day. Great way to network and learn from other (and pass time for all of us).
Also, Brian won’t be posting a Sittin’ at Home today out of respect for what’s going in America and to “make a little room for the voices that need to be heard right now”. So many reasons why I am fan of this guy.
i'd love to hear them work together on something. hell, it'd be great for a ton of collaborations to come out this with all the artists he's been in touch with lately.
Seems like he could do something like Kevin Devine’s Devinyl Split series with this. I personally hope that these conversations lead to Brian writing and releasing more new music soon. I could see him writing or recording something with Laura Stevenson, touring with an Andy Hull project, and working with Matthew Ryan and Chris Farren again.
Love it!!! Also up on Amazon Music, but I couldn't see it on Apple Music when I looked. This is awesome.
That version is so good and I wouldn’t blame you! Isn’t there an actual updated studio version of it out there? I believe I heard it and it doesn’t even stand close to the live version.
I'm not positive, but I used to have a studio version that I thought was recorded with the other bonus tracks around the time of Painkillers being recorded. It was not super high quality and I think it was a vinyl rip because it skipped right at the end of the song. I loved it. I believe it was different than the live Crossroads version but it fit great with the rest of the Georgia EP. I'm excited to start building my music collection back up with this.
yeah, there's a studio version that was released for, and exclusive to, the Painkillers 7" box set. i hope that gets a proper digital release someday. that Crossroads performance is kinda the best version out there though. so fucking powerful.
