My initial impression is that I like this quite a bit, but I don't love it. Definitely doesn't come close to Sleepwalkers for me.
Good lord this is my jam. So glad I held out not listening to any of the singles. As someone who loves the singer/songwriter genre I love the pace of this, however I can see how people might want a couple upbeat songs on here.
This is really good and I'm glad it exists, but I don't necessarily want another album in this vein for his next go around.
Haven't really kept up with the songs released prior to the album, but it's pretty solid. Probably late on this, but is I Don't Mind If I'm With You deliberately sound just like a rewritten version of She Loves You?
Having not heard anything until last night, my initial thoughts are two: - This is the sequel to Elsie that I’ve wanted for eight years. - This is the best album I’ve heard in a long, long time, by anyone. Maybe since Elsie. I love everything Fallon has ever done, but this style is my favorite thing Fallon does. I didn’t think he’d make something like or as good as Elsie, and I couldn’t be happier that he did.
Yeah, I don't think that music appeals to him too much anymore, but i'd love him to try re-visiting it with all he's learned as a songwriter. But oh well. I like whatever he puts out anyway so it doesn't matter too much.
After listening to and loving the previously released tracks, "Jolene" and "Hard Feelings" are my new favorites. And "When You're Ready" nearly brings me to tears.
PFT Commenter shouted out this album on his IG story last night. I'm a huge PMT fan so I thought that was really cool.
I wouldn't quite call this an 'Elsie sequel', but, man these types of songs are my favorite from him.
sorry for the quad post lol one listen down and yeah, this is probably gonna be my favorite solo effort of his. so many of these songs sound like they could be on 'Painkillers' if they weren't as stripped down, but they're perfect just as is. god i love this man
