Forgot to make a thread for this album! I've been enjoying NYC songwriter Brian Dunne's form of pop rock songwriting since discovering him a few years ago through one of my favorite songwriters, Ken Yates.

He's put out some good music before, but his new record is a huge step up across the board: 10 big rock songs with a huge melodies and this self-aware, sarcastic-yet-earnest bent to his lyricism that I find really compelling. They sit well next to his scrappy yelp of a voice and comparatively clean instrumentation.

He just got a surprisingly great Pitchfork review, which called it "a good time for anyone who may be teetering on a bad time—a winner's album for losers." That resonates with me, as the album is about all the ways the world tries to break you down and get you to give up (especially songwriters). For fans of Butch Walker, Frank Turner, and Dan Wilson.
