Breaking Bad was a great show, but I'm not sure if it will hold up 10-20 years from now, which is fine. It's probably the best thriller show I've seen though.
To be more clear, it will always hold up as being a great show. I meant more like hold up as a classic like The Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, etc...
At least for me, it was primarily a thriller with great dramatic acting and cinematography. But once the storylines and cliffhangers played out, I was like, "Yup, that was a great show. One of my favorites," but haven't gone back to it since it ended. Mad Men was a period piece character study and everything about it was top notch. It's my favorite drama ever and I've rewatched the whole thing probably 3 or 4 times now.
I don't think it's the type of show that needs to be rewatched multiple times, nor should that be the reason that it holds up or not. It's cemented as an iconic show, one of the best ever made. I loved Mad Men but I don't need to rewatch it. I'm more likely to rewatch sitcoms.
I'm much more likely to rewatch sitcoms as well, but every now and then I get an itch for Mad Men and I have to marathon it all.
Lost is my favourite show and I rewatch it all the time. I watch at least a few episodes a week and have done for years lol
I'm trying to think of any long running dramas that I have watched more than once. Not sure if there are any? Does anyone else remember the Breaking Bad threads back on AP when it was airing? Explosive times each week.
I've watched breaking bad maybe 3 times... I have been itching to watch it again honestly. Gotta finish rewatching Mad Men first though.
Just finished this and it might have overtaken the Sops and The Wire for my favorite show of all time. Season 5 was absolutely astounding
Breaking Bad's painful first season and some of the more absurd plot developments keep it from the highest levels of television, but seasons 3-5 are still quite good.
Rewatching currently. On season 4. My biggest complaint is Jesse seems to have 0 agency in the plot. Which might be the point. But bingeing watching his character is harder then I remembered
His popularity was always confusing. He goes from being portrayed as exceptionally stupid and then they try to give him depth. Walter, Saul, and Mike are the only interesting characters on the show.
