The Skyler thing keeps coming up and there are two sides to blame. Yes, the dumb fans who wanted explosions and Walter defeating his enemies hated her for having reasonable problems with what he was doing, but at the same time she was not that well written of a character, especially compared to comparable characters like Carmela Soprano or Betty Draper. The show also paints her really unsympathetically at first. In the first episode of the show she is scolding Walter for wanting real bacon on his birthday and then giving him a passionless handjob to which she seems to get the most excited over winning an eBay auction. She is designed for every man in the audience to hate her, but they did get better at building the character as time went on.
