Mistborn live action is first. Brandon to write the screenplay over the next five months. Stormlight show to follow. Don’t know if that means to follow Mistborn 1 or the whole era 1 trilogy.
Tom Holland for Kelsier too while we’re at it. For real, I think they find an unknown kid for Vin. My favorite fancasting (Lance Reddick as Sazed) is unfortunately impossible.
Dafne Keen is my pick for Vin but she'll probably be too old to play her by the time they're shooting. I actually think that Glen Powell would be an absolutely spectacular Kelsier. I literally teared up reading the news yesterday I'm so stoked.
I was driving home thinking of cast people and legit went “could Glen Powell play Hoid?” and was shocked by how long I considered it. I didn’t come to a conclusion.
I just think his smile is perfect for Kelsier. Haven't seen Running Man yet so not sure how he is in action scenes but he's got the perfect look.
I’m about 100 pages into Mistborn book 1 (a new baby gives me no downtime!). My plan was to read the first era trilogy, then Warbreaker…since the color system sounds cool and I heard a world hopper from it appears in all the Cosmere books, so it sounds like the most important. I guess I was spoiled from something I accidentally read. my wife did a used book swap with some acquaintances and surprised me with Trees of the Emerald Sea, since she’s seen Sanderson’s name on the book I’m reading. I know it’s a standalone book and more like a fairy tale, but it’s still a Cosmere book. How much will I miss if I read it between Mistborn books one and two? It seems like a good stand alone book and light reading, but “cosmere” indicates Easter eggs.
You won’t really miss anything… but I’d also just hold off. Tress doesn’t touch any book in that Mistborn trilogy quality wise.
Have you read anything else in the Cosmere? Garrett’s right, and there are a couple things that I think would benefit a reading of Tress; but I will also say it is definitely cozier and standalone and wouldn’t be a bad idea if you want to appreciate the gift and have a breather in between.
Looks like we're getting a Skyward TV series from the same production company that does the One Piece.live action series. Super exciting news. Brandon Sanderson's 'Skyward' Novel Gets Series Adaptation - Exclusive
Finished Hero of Ages today. It still took me a while to get through it, but it was definitely the best of the three, for me personally. The whole last bit after Sazed ascends, was perfection. Pretty much everything after Sazed gets to the Kandra homeland was just excellent. Read the whole last 150-200 pages tonight on my overnight. Trying to decide if I want to jump straight into Era 2 or maybe read Dune, I’ve basically only read Sanderson since like 2024, while trying to finish up Stormlight in anticipation for Wind and Truth, then starting Mistborn once I finished WaT. I don’t have fatigue of Sanderson necessarily, but Era one was a bit of a slog for me after how great all of Stormlight was, if Era 2 is more of the same, I’m worried I’ll run out of the drive to finish it out. Although the setting and brief synopsis sounds more intriguing to me. I just don’t like the magic system on Scadrial very much, and I think that’s what makes it hard to get through for me, sometimes. I was my most intrigued when it focused on the politics and the history of the planet/ Vessels. Overall I’ll give Era 1 a solid 8/10. Not bad just not as much my thing!
Era 2 is my favorite Cosmere series, and I think it's faster paced and a lot more fun than Era 1 (though I also loved Hero of Ages). I always like jumping to something else between books in a series, but Era 2 is a pretty big shift in style so I don't think it'll be a slog.
Very good! I ended up bringing Alloy of Law on this trip so hopefully I’ll be done with it at the end or maybe the next trip
