Just finished Wind and Truth. Certain aspects of the ending were disappointing for me, but as this is the midway point, I’m willing to see how they play out! Great book and what a ride the first five books have been. Kind of hate that Dalinar sacrifices himself and is just going to be brought back as the Blackthorn anyways, it seems? Dude gives up the power of Honor to force the gods to actually do something about Retribution and also saves Roshar, and his reward is that he serves Retribution anyways? I get he broke the oath of the contract, but come oooon! Adolin continues to be my favorite character. Interested to see how the whole therapy session with the Heralds plays out over the next five books/however long before they return. Will Kaladin see any of his friends again? I believe Brandon said at one point that the time jump between 5 and 6 is 30 years or so? I feel so bad for Navani and Gavinor. I had started book two of Mistborn right around when WaT came out, but decided to read WaT to avoid spoilers. Excited to hop back into that world, and not have to carry WaT around in my work bag anymore lol
I'm on part 2 of wind and truth. So far so good. I am going to come in hot with opinions when done and start unhiding spoilers like crazy. (which will be like a month from now... so slow still).
I think Rhythm of War is much better on the second read. All the issues of my first read just disappeared.
So I decided to read era 2 of Mistborn before I jump into WaT. Only have a few hours of The Lost Metal left, and all I have to say is: Wayne is the best Cosmere character.
I've read Mistborn era 1 and 2, Stormlight 1-4, and Warbreaker, as well as the novellas, and my impression is that Words of Radiance is my favorite book. Just finished era 2. Gonna watch this 3 hour recap video to remember as much as I can then it's WaT time for me.
I got to “honor is dead but I’ll see what I can do” (which I’ve seen quoted so many times but still gave me chills in context) then my kids woke up from their nap so I had to stop. I think I’ll be staying up late tonight.
First half of rhythm of war is an absolute slog but the second half is much better. Should finish this week.
Rhythm of War is mainly annoying to me because it reads like a dang science book. All of Navani’s experiments just make me go, “alright cool I get it.”
RoW hit for me way more on a reread. Dabbid chapter was all timer for me though even on that first read.
Man I am so locked in with Stormlight. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve enjoyed reading some Wheel of Time and Mistborn era 2 while waiting on Wind and Truth, but I’m still on the prologue and feel so much more intrigued than I borderline ever did in those stories. also Gavilar is an idiot, haha
Finished rhythm of war. How long does it take for books to come out in paperback? Don’t want wind and truth hardcover since all my others are paperback.
Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson: NEW Paperback (2024) | Readify Books I think that’s the Tor International Edition paperback, which should be basically identical to the other paperbacks according this Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/brandonsanderson/s/16H6G3mOIm That’s what I was planning on ordering if I get to WAT before the US paperback release.
