Incredible response towards someone who deserves absolutely no sympathy. That article is trash and the person who wrote it should be ashamed.
garbage ass article. His examples of Sanderson's "bad writing" could literally have been taken from any book ever written. I also dont think this dude actually read any of his books. No sex? Shallan and Adolin definitely allude to it and Wayne cant open his mouth without making a dick joke.
I know you’re talking about the author of the article, but I’m super tired right now and reading it after ragnarokstar’s comment made me think you were talking about Wayne for a second and I laughed.
Lol yeah I was a little late on the hate because I was like, am I still gonna be mad in a day? and yeah I was, ha. Wayne was never my favorite character (though I definitely came around by the end) but I would never go that far, haha.
I'll probably dive right in with SP2. I still haven't read Tress because I'm waiting for the hardcover, but with SP2 I might go the audio route.
I’m doing audio. I was about to start my Malazan read then realized how quickly it was coming and inserted a short book for this week.
yeah I'm glad for your reminder about SP2 coming so soon—I'm also working on some ongoing series/catchup books and probably would have spaced it. Seems like audio will be good for this one too.
It pains me to say this but I didn't love Tress all that much. It leans a bit too much into YA territory for me. Very much looking forward to the other secret projects, though.
Lol yeah I just started and it's soooo YA, buuut working for me so far. Sanderson's YA has always worked for me. The "Oceans" are already an interesting enough concept.
I think I liked Tress so much because it is YA, as odd as it is to say. He's always strayed from writing YA fantasy since his YA output is usually a brain cleanser from fantasy worlds, so when finally giving into it, it was exactly what I like about his scifi YAs in my preferred genre for him to write.
Welcome to Brandon Sanderson's Fantasy Empire esquire dropped a piece today, too. gonna read it after I finish this episode
A much better article, that criticizes (a little) without the abject disdain. And answers questions I've had about his stance on social issues, which seem positive, despite his church's stance. Didn't know about the blog post from 2007, not a good look, but it seems like he did everything right to be a better person.
I ready maybe 1/3 of Tress, liked it, decided to wait for the HC for the rest...and have been too stubborn to turn back and finish it. BUT MY BOOK FINALLY SHIPPED (or a label was printed but close enough) I will not be making the same mistake with SP2, that's getting read this weekend.
Forgot Secret Project 2 is out in like a few days! I know its not Cosmere related but still excited for new Sando!
I'll definitely be waiting for a the hardcover again, so glad I did that. The art was beautiful, and I especially loved the little touch of (all book spoiler) the colors changing with each sea they visited. The first time I saw the red my mind did that thing where I was like wtf is wrong here, then I realized what he was doing and was like well hell yeah Adore little touches like that.
These are pretty cool- https://www.shirepost.com/collections/mistborn And officially endorsed by Brandon and the team!
