Well, this year's convention was awesome. Hoid's Museum was this cool walkthrough with artifacts from all the different worlds, and the cosplay and treasure hunts and collectibles were on point. At the release party he read a couple chapters from Stormlight Five and made a few announcements—Words of Radiance leatherbound Kickstarter early 2023; ebooks and audiobooks for the Secret Projects will be widely available on the 10th of each release month (vs. the 1st for KS backers), and Tor/Gollancz will publish the print editions with a delay of a couple months for each; Dragonsteel 2023 is November 20–21, coinciding with the release of Defiant.

Pretty great experience. And I got to chat with Tim Akers for a while @Vivatoto, so that was cool.

On it! haha. A couple chapters in tonight, should blaze through it this week.

 

a handful of chapters into part 3, it's like 2/3 pretty good era 2 story (which i will admit was never my favorite flavor of sando) and 1/3 fun cosmere lore. if i know sanderson, and i do, things will ramp up quickly so we'll see how this second half progresses, but as always it's just nice to have new cosmere to dissect.

 

not as far as you are, but at the release party he said “the gloves are off” as far as that’s concerned. super excited for what that means for this and future books.

 

I completely forget the details of shadows of self and bands of mourning. I’m going to need to brush up on it

 

even only halfway through this one...that is definitely true

 

On Chapter 15 and Marasi being recruited by the Ghostbloods! Holy shit!

 

I can't explain it but I get the exact same feeling as when two of my favorite bands are touring together whenever a character I know from somewhere else in the Cosmere shows up somewhere they weren't supposed to be.

 

I’m in chapter four. Michael Kramer reading these books is just right.

one of my favorite Magic the Gathering players went to the MTG Summit and hung out with Sanderson at his house and played Magic with him and got a bunch of signed books. Worlds collide lol

 

Is Autonomy a stand in for the god of our earth after we’ve shed all the standard religions, maybe? Seems like the hints are there for it to originate “here.”

 

When I read who Moonlight was I just screamed! Also when chouta was being sold in Bilming
This was just a fun book! Let me know when you get to the ending....

Just finished. Wow. I might rank this just below Oathbringer. It was everything I wanted and more. Non-stop Sanderlanche. Just top tier fantasy. Wow.

I was talking to a friend about how I didn't really like Wayne and then...this book happened. So many tears. What a book

Various spoilery thoughts below:

Harmony becoming Discord.
Wax using intent to create lyrasium (just like on Roshar).
Are we to understand that Wax is Mistborn now but just hasn't tried burning other metals?
Marasi really stepped up. I wish she had joined the Ghostbloods though.
Dlavil is definitely Iyatil's sister. Scary dude.
Horneaters on Shadesmar. All signs point to a cataclysm at the end of Storm light 5.
Is fused Dalinar the leader of Autonomy's army (provided by Odium?
I have so many questions, can't wait for Stormlight 5.

 

Ok I hadn't been paying attention, what book is everyone talking about?

 

The Lost Metal came out on Tuesday

 

I've only read the first three Mistborn books. What should I read before The Lost Metal? Obviously besides the rest of the series

 

Mistborn: Secret History novella from Arcanum Unbound.

The other answer is a spoiler, but also doesn't really affect your ability to understand the book it spoils.
