First Look at Secret Project #3 | Brandon Sanderson Secret book 3: Yumi and the Nightmare Painter Another Hoid narrated tale, different tone of voice, this and the other Hoid book came about because he's trying to nail down what sort of voice to use for Dragonsteel. Manga/Japanese culture inspired (shouts out Hikaru no Go as being a big inspiration, also Your Name and Final Fantasy X), a sort of body/life swap story.
I'm really excited for all three secret projects so far. I've only read a few paragraphs of each of them; I tend to hold off on reading stuff like this in advance, and I usually just wait to have the whole book in front of me. But I've really enjoyed what I've read of all three. I love that they're all so different, not just from each other but from the rest of Sanderson's work. You can tell he's had a lot of fun writing them. This one in particularly has such a cool vibe.
First Look at Secret Project Four (Hint: it's Stormlight Adjacent) | Brandon Sanderson Well this looks great
Secret History 2 free to all backers!! Note: im kidding, i have NO idea what it actually is. Adaptation would be nice but I think it'll be another MB that he wrote alongside TLM.
It's a little funny to see people (not you @Garrett) commenting that they think the Kickstarter built enough hype to attract Hollywood's attention and get a movie/TV/game deal in 29 days. Like, it's totally possible that the work Brandon's been doing for years with treatments and pitches and all that has come to fruition, and that he gets to announce a Mistborn TV show tomorrow, and sure, the hype of the Kickstarter probably nudged things. But seeing people comment it's like they think some movie exec saw the Kickstarter and called Brandon up and said "We'll start casting tomorrow." The industry doesn't move quite that fast, haha. Certainly the Kickstarter is a huge example of the viability of adapting his books and all that, but it just strikes me as a little naïve to think that exclusively because of the Kickstarter he'd be ready to announce something like that. THAT SAID: It would be phenomenally crazy if he's announcing any kind of adaptation of his books. I'm super excited for whatever the reveal is. I'm guessing it's more of a Secret History 2/Mistborn tie-in or something though. Which would be great. And I could definitely see him having prepared a book release for the end of the Kickstarter as a boon for fans to hold us over until next year. Or it'll just be the official announcement of the Stormlight miniatures, haha.
I get you. I know he's been writing screenplays but i think the rights still actually lie with DMG at the moment, unless they've lapsed. It's obviously Mistborn related. Maybe news about a game? I remember he was writing for that too.
I weirdly don't want to see any adaptations of his books for quite a while at least. The Wheel of Time series on Amazon kind of killed my enthusiasm for those books. However, if it's something in the world of the Cosmere but not a direct adaptation, I could get into that.
It would be really funny (well, "funny") if the secret announcement is something bad like everyone feared from his initial announcement, like he's terminally ill or something. Absolutely no one would expect that at this point.
will not listen because i would not be able to handle not being able to read more for 18 months i did eventually convince myself to just go for the whole year though
