On the live stream just now he said something about these being higher quality than a standard hardcover, but not quite to the leatherbounds.
Oh yeah, I definitely figured they'd be sweet, he said they were fully illustrated in the original video and they call them "premium" hardcovers." I just don't think I can justify spending that much right now for 4 books that I'll be able to read a year from now. I don't want to miss out on physical copies though, I have every other book of his. A real pickle.
Yeah. I’ve slowly been tracking down hardcovers at used stores to fill in his back catalog. No matter what, I can email you my ebooks if you can’t afford it. Gotta watch out for everyone. I’ll use the hardcovers/audiobooks.
Appreciate that, my plan is to go with the ebooks either way, and I'll think about the hardcovers over the month.
I'm not made of money, but I am made of poor impulse control around books, which amounts to the same thing in this case.
Me too, so much, but I've been working really hard to be better. My sale hunting has been on point recently. But it also kinda sucks that sales are deciding what I'm reading, lol.
Well, at this point, the Kickstarter record is gonna topple in less than two days, haha. I'm very curious if he's going to come back and be like, "So, uh, we're re-assessing if we need to be doing more because DAMN."
I saw on the Kickstarter that the second Dragonsteel Con is planned for November and will be here in Salt Lake City. Just saying, if any of you guys want to come out for it and need a place to stay...
First Look at Secret Project #1 | Brandon Sanderson Book 1 is called Tress of the Emerald Sea, first five chapters either read to you or in text above. Some info: As is basically immediately obvious, Hoid is narrating the story. Despite the liberties Hoid occasionally takes with his stories, this is canon to the Cosmere. It has a fairy tale vibe, Sanderson compares it to Princess Bride.
I already have the time off work! I'm making some Mandalorian armor for Star Wars Celebration and brainstorming ways to do a Cosmere crossover with it. I also want to try to put together a Szeth cosplay.
Just wanted to update that I've finally backed for the All Formats Year of Sanderson tier. I'll definitely post pictures of the swag throughout the year here. Very much looking forward to it. (My wife and I moved across the country last year and a bunch of our stuff was stolen. The insurance just came through with a very generous compensation for it, which means I can justify spending a little extra on frivolous things, haha.) Also starting Edgedancer tonight, excited to be diving back into Roshar.
It looks like Secret Project #2, The Frugal Wizard's Handbook for Surviving Medieval England, is the non-Cosmere book. He's describing it as Time Travel Disaster Tourism meets Jason Bourne and "very tropey." I'm all in.
That is very, very interesting, given what he's said about that particular genre on Intentionally Blank. Also all in.
There are going to be surprise "thank you" rewards for the kickstarter. The first is that they're upping the quality of the hardcovers via printing ink improvements and more illustrations throughout in chapter headings and whatnot.
I don't remember, is the next Wax and Wayne book the final book in the W&W series? I know he's not done with Mistborn, but is it the conclusion to their story?
