just started part 5 of RoW. We'll see how it ends, but I honestly feel like there hasnt been a lot happening for so long of a book. it's been entertaining for sure though.
It mostly seems like a lot of setup for a big finale in book 5. There were still some cool moments, though.
RoW is the first true "set up only" book that Brandon has written. I think that's what makes it so odd to read... especially following WoR and Oath.
My displeasure with the book thus far is that the focus has been largely on my least favorite characters and elements: 1) Shallan (especially the dumb triumvirate personality shtick) and Adolin 2) Fucking fabrials and Navani At this point, I am pretty much only invested in Kaladin, Jasnah, and Szeth. And even with Kaladin, I am becoming increasingly annoyed by his dynamic with Syl. Having him essentially pal around with an annoying child has gotten old over the course of a few books. I don't know. Maybe I am just not as into this whole series (and really, all of Brandon's work) as I always imagined I was. It has basically been all downhill since Way of Kings for me.
I see what you did there. But I agree, the stuff with Shallan in particular is getting to be a bit much.
I would Secret History first. It came out before Bands of Mourning and actually has stuff in it that will help you understand some events in Bands of Mourning better.
done with RoW. This is the first time I'll have to wait a while for the next book. not looking forward to it because of how this one played out.
8 hours left in the audiobook for RoW. Sadly, it never really got better for me. Just want it to end already.
I’m sure that there will be a big climax, but nothing he can throw at the end will justify the 40+ hours of slog I had to get through to get there.
There are definitely parts of this book I enjoy, but it has felt more like a setup for the next book than any previous TSA book.
I'm pretty sure Wax and Wayne is the only ongoing Sanderson series that I can unequivocally say that I enjoy. So this is welcome news.
So that puts Wax and Wayne spring 22 and Stormlight 5 summer 23? Dark One is supposed to be out months ago so I wonder when it’s coming
I didn't care for the first Wax and Wayne book, but I'm halfway through the second one now and loving it so far.
I need to read mistborn era 2. that, elantris, and the novellas I've missed along the way in arcanum unbound is what I havent read so far.
Mercifully, I’ve finished RoW. Woof that was baaaaaaad. I’m going to have to think long and hard about whether I’ll even bother reading book 5.
Flashbacks were the weakest, but overall i thought this was one of the stronger books TBH. I’m walking away with an appreciation of Navani that i did not have going into it
