Ah that cover is a Larkin (Chiri Chiri) skeleton. I was just reading how someone mentions in one of the books that even the skeletons are prized.
I am personally waiting until release day (as I want to re-read the first three books), but if you are interested: Read Rhythm of War by Brandon Sanderson: Prologue and Chapter One
Brandon initially mentioned the Oathbringer was an Honorblade on the Comic Con stream but he clarified on reddit that he misspoke and this is not the case.
Just finished Warbreaker. Really great story that stands up on its own, but it's also cool how it ties into The Stormlight books. There was one character that shows up in Stormlight that I didn't even realize was one of the main characters in Warbreaker. Just need to read all of the Mistborn books before November, and I'll be all caught up.
glad he clarified it, what was that talk about it being made of Tanavastium though?? Was that a flub too?
I haven't heard anything about that, yet. He seems to just be talking for the sake of talking on it though so I'm unsure if he even knew. No-one has mentioned it on the reddit forums/in our mod queue yet.
so I have a loft goal to read all of Mistborn and finish relistening to TSA before RoW. I just finished Mistborn I (loved it) and am almost done with my tWoK relisten. I need to Warbreaker this time too, right?
I would say do Warbreaker but if you've already read that and know the story then I wouldn't class it as required reading for Rhythm of War if you're stuck for time. Trying to plan my own re-read but I have The Ember Blade to finish, Fires of Vengeance from Evan Winter and a few others I wanted to read before RoW's release.
Well, if you haven't read it and you have the time I would still recommend reading it. I actually really liked Warbreaker as a Cosmere novel.
Jesus another book to add to the list this year. My most anticipated includes Jenn Lyons - Memory of Souls, VE Schwab - The Invisible Life of Addie Larue, Christopher Paolini - To Sleep in a Sea of Stars. I'll probably push Fire of Vengreance back. I really didn't like the ending of the first book (finished it over the weekend) particularly over the way the author treated every single female character in the book. At this point, the odds of a Stormlight re-read are dismal.
I'm relatively new to fantasy, other than classics that I read as a kid. Once RoW comes out and I read/listen to that, I'm going to finish up whatever Cosmere I haven't read, then go into the Wheel of Time series. Kingkiller Chronicles and Malazan are on my short list after that.
Yeah, I've had a good year of reading new fantasy and trying to broaden my little bubble. I've been interested in Jenn Lyons and the new Christopher Paolini book but I've really been looking forward to RoW and Fire of Vengeance. The Ember Blade is actually a great book, too. Some Wheel of Time and Sanderson vibes but I can feel myself trying to finish it to try and re-read SA again. The rest of those series are great but I'm actually putting of reading Malazan just because of the sheer scope of it!
Yeah, it's a great book as a stand-alone title, but the tie-ins to The Stormlight Archive are an added bonus. Might be my favorite book out of all of them so far.
Get ready to fall in love with the Kingkiller Chronicles, and then you can wait forever for the third book with the rest of us.
Cool, sounds like I'll read Warbreaker after Well of Ascension before I finish off Mistborn era 1 then.
Hero of Ages before Warbreaker. Don’t delay yourself from that book any longer than you absolutely have to.
I'd agree with @Garrett and say finish Mistborn first, that trilogy is one of the best I've ever read and you don't want to break it up with a different Cosmere story.
I’m about 200 pages into the first Mistborn book. It’s alright so far. The only characters I like are Kel and Vin. The rest are blah.
It gets better, I just finished. I did have a hard time keeping people straight though, and found myself looking them up every now and then to keep it straight.
My Stormlight game comes in today (after having to pay another £25 customs fee) and I'm excited to get it!
Finally starting my Cosmere reread, perhaps a little too late but we'll see. 25% into Mistborn 1. I think my goal is first Mistborn trilogy -> Secret History -> Warbreaker -> Stormlight, we'll see if I can get through that in 3 months with limited reading time, maybe sneak in White Sand somewhere since I've still never read the comics.
