He did an AMA about Skyward yesterday too: Ready to read SKYWARD?! The prologue through chapter 6 are now on Getunderlined.com. We will be revealing new excerpts each week until its release on Nov. 6th. Also, Brandon will be coming here tomorrow for a little AMA so leave your questions about Skyward below! http://bit.ly/2zAnchh : brandonsanderson I haven't read the preview chapters so most of it meant nothing to me but a few interesting notes: - Skyward is now 4 books - Terminology in the book will make it very clear which (non-Cosmere) novella it connects to - Even though there had been talk about Skyward being Cosmere related in the past, the story itself was never meant to be outside of the fact that he originally envisioned the main character as a Cosmere character A couple Stormlight tidbits: - Less Dalinar in Book 4 but he'll come back into focus in Book 5 - the previously mentioned Stormlight novella titled Wandersail will probably release next year and focuses on current characters in the series and not the event involving the ship that Hoid tells Kaladin in TWoK.
My parent's and other half bought me Alloy of Law, Bands of Mourning and Shadows of Self so now I have a complete Cosmere list, excluding those White Sand graphic novels but damn those are expenses here to buy. This shall be all I read for a while however I do want to get back on the Wheel of Time train for a refresh before the TV series comes out. What annoys me though is that all my paperbacks are the same size however my Oathbringer is massive compared to the others and it looks so out of place. May need to buy OB Part 1 & 2 separately just to fulfil my OCD.
The part I bolded reminds me of how Robert Jordan handled Rand in book 3 and book 10. “Dalinar, you just did something seemingly impossible, what are you going to do now?!” “I’m sitting this book out!”
Okay if anyone in here has yet to start the Stormlight Archive series now would be a good time to do so. All 3 of the books are on sale (today only) for the Kindle for 3 bucks each. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003P2WO5E/?tag=absolutepunk-20 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DA6YEKS/?tag=absolutepunk-20 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NAWAH85/?tag=absolutepunk-20
I shared that on Facebook. I need everyone to read them. I have THINGS TO DISCUSS AND FEELINGS TO HAVE.
Haha they're so good, and yes I know you can rent library books but to get all 3 books for under 10 bucks is a steal. That's like 3000 pages of pure entertainment for 10 dollars.
I tried to get my gf to read them. Bought them and she said yeah, she'd do that. Ended up reading about half of GOT and then put it down, just doesn't have the attention span for books at all which is shit because I need people to talk to and she's a big fantasy lover for visual media.
Happy birthday to Brandon! That also means it's State of the Sanderson 2018 time! State of the Sanderson 2018 | Brandon Sanderson Notable comments, though a lot of this is reiterating things he's said over the year include: - He's starting work on Stormlight 4 in January and since he's reaching the end of the first arc of the series, may take a bit more planning than the previous books. Continues to be optimistic it's Fall 2020 but could slip to 2021. - Probably writing Wax and Wayne 4 during a Stormlight 4 break, 2020/21 - Skyward sequel is written, November 2018. Will be a longer break before 3, 2021. Also some slight comments on the state of development of his properties for movies/shows - apparently, Snapshot is fairly close to being made into a movie, Dark One has a showrunner attached and is being shopped around and they've been shopping a Mistborn movie series and a Way of Kings TV series to studios.
I got the first two Legion novellas as solo audiobooks so it's kinda annoying to me that I can't get the third as a solo.
Blessed to see these updates every year. Looks like a quiet a Cosmere next year but I'm glad for the Skyward sequel and to go all in for 2020.
While not listed in his post he's mentioned before that we should be getting another Stormlight novella taking place between books (like Edgedancer) titled Wandersail in 2019.
Edgedancer and Secret History really added to the story and lore so I suppose that's a positive! I'm currently doing a Wheel of Time reread so might just start this once I've finished to make room for more!
So my lovely girlfriend got me the one Sanderson book I didn't have, Snapshot, but also surprised me with a handmade t-shirt with one of my favourite Stormlight Archive quotes. What a storming Christmas!
Blew my fucking mind when I read it, and the Sanderson work I’m maybe most dying for a sequel for, outside of Stormlight of course (and Warbreaker for Stormlight reasons)
