I have unfortunately realized that over the past 8 months. But i also twice called her my generation's Jeff Buckley last weekend so...

Is it though? That band was fiercely mediocre with one pretty good record that has some really low moments on it.

 

The lead guitar on here is very brand new in my opinion..

 

Julien Baker is a better lyricist than everyone at this point...... except Christian Holden.......... :)

 

I'm just happy I'm not the only one that got an Alkaline Trio vibe. The somewhat morose lyrics over the more happy vibe of the music def contributes to that.

 

When she does it for 4 records I'll agree with you! Ha I do love her record though so good

When I saw the name of the title I thought "wait didn't jesse say the next record would be happier?" I get a sense of veiled optimism from the lyrics, not happy but there's something light there.

I'm definitely not making it up that Jesse said the next record would be happier tho, right?

yes but that was literally 3-4 years ago at this point. The record could honestly be anything by now

 

At least I didn't make it up, eh? Not that I'm expecting it to be happier, really.

 

I suppose happier could simply be a state of mind when listening to the album. Daisy is an exhausting album and pretty much the opposite of happy, whereas 11 tracks in this vein would be the complete opposite. I can see why the term could be used to describe this track when you consider their last "happy" song was what, Not the Sun? Jaws Theme? lol

 

Guys, this is great.

 

I like the new song, but I think I liked Mene more.

Just listened to Sink for first time in ages and has made me completely rethink my relatively satisfied stance on this song. God I miss this anger and emotion and interesting instrumentation. Then again, as has been said earlier, just having a TDAG or Daisy clone or whatever is far worse than a new album in its own right

What is Out of Range? Totally missed that, is it a real Brand New song? If so, I enjoy it more than anything released since TDAG except for whatever the vocals are. What is he doing with his voice
