its probably a bit tone deaf talking about this so I'm sorry about that but this poem with the limited vinyl resonated a bit with me.. again i don't know who wrote it and I probably shouldn't post about it but whatever I'll spoiler tag it too in case someone doesn't want to read the bands work, if it was even written by them.

Is this thread solely for people who distaste everything the band has ever done now?

 

Largely yes. However, it is mostly just like the same 5-7 people who want to ensure no one listens to and/or enjoys the band ever again

 

How exactly is another person going to ensure that i never listen to and/or enjoy brand new ever again?

i opened the big envelope that everything is contained in because i was interested to see what all was in there. i haven't played it though, and don't plan on it. i didn't even like the album very much when it was initially released so i have no desire to go back to it.

 

Sell it and enjoy the profit however you see fit.

It seems like all I've typed in threads related to this band since November are long drawn out phrases acting as a way to sort out what I'm supposed to do with the music.

My limited vinyl package came today and I'm currently sitting in my living room with it on the turntable. I'm listening and sorting through the other materials.

Once it's over, I'm putting it away for what may be forever. The way I look at it, if I have to keep asking myself if it's ok to listen to Brand New, it probably isn't. The sound is marred with a sense of confusion. I have an inability to ingest it how I used to.

For me it's not too dissimilar to catching up with people you were once incredibly close with. Only to be left feeling like strangers who speak different languages.

I can try to sound as poetic and well spoken as I want on the matter, but it does nothing. Fuck, there's no one to tell me what's ok to do here, I have to decide for myself.

Nothing about this has been easy, other than recognizing how awful it all is.

I don't want to ramble anymore.

 

Got home and saw that I got a vinyl package in the mail today. Started watching this Alabama Senate election and dreaded what was inside. Finally opened it up and discovered that it's not Brand New, it's my Pollyanna vinyl.

I’m not just saying this because of what has transpired but the limited vinyl package is the sloppiest, most inconvenient record I’ve ever received or seen. For starters, there’s nothing in there to even remotely charge $51 for. The records are not in a sleeve, so like, where or how are people supposed to store it? (aside from a dumpster), the posters are utterly uninteresting. The booklets are just blurry pictures.

It’s such a mess, that even if I wanted to listen to this, it’d be such an inconvenience to get it out of the shitty paper packaging that it’d be more trouble than it’s worth.

Yeah pretty disappointed in the limited vinyl tbh. It’s just..really thrown together and really inconvenient as a functional package

 

I don't know anything about vinyl or what it should/shouldn't look like, but I received mine at 4:43 this afternoon and had it sold by 8:30 tonight. I pulled it out of the plastic sleeve to look but didn't open it, and I wouldn't say I was impressed, but given how much money my idiot friends have spent on records in the past, I wasn't expecting much for $50.

 

50?! Did you just rank every album you listened to this year?

 

The collector's edition vinyl smells bad. "Like old people." according to one of my friends lol.

Also, maybe a tour next year?

 

i'm having trouble cutting down out of 50 albums i really really like, i have something like 3500 songs from this year in my library. probably listened to 200ish albums
