it's still hard to have pity for anyone who continued to want to financially support the band after the allegations came out. it's not even just enjoying the band on your own, it was an active decision to not request a refund. to me that's the same thing as if they decided to just buy a record afterwards

 

My limited Vinyl showed up today. I blasted it away with a Kamehameha into a million pieces.

 

Not everybody has to follow your example. Fans have waited 8 years for this, and spent their money prior to knowing anything about Jesse's actions. A lot of people have publicly stated here that this vinyl is their closure of sorts, and they won't continue to support the band in the future. It has absolutely nothing to do with you what anybody else does with their money, so please don't assume you're somehow above everybody else because you requested a refund. Act high and mighty somewhere other than the thread of the band you clearly despise so much now, maybe?

yeah i mean, i get it if getting a refund was hard or if it shipped right after this happened but there was like, what, a month or two between and it was super easy to get? i don't know, i feel weird about caring about those who decided they were fine giving their money to jesse and company still...

 

imagine the things you could've gotten with that money that aren't directly supporting a sexual predator.

he's not working for them anymore. I'm not sure what else he should do, tbh.

 

i just wish he did more than just disappear and hide himself. i'm not sure what he can do honestly. but it's just so frustrating to see people over and over that are associated with abusers just take a break, especially those that are so outspoken in other cases

 

I wouldn't be surprised if he was legally prohibited from saying too much about this.

i'm just so frustrated in the silence of every single person that is related to the band/label. maybe they can't do anything, i get it, but just the continued silence in so many cases is maddening. i'm sure i'm just overreacting right now, it's been one of those days where i've just been word vomiting all over the place but, ugh.

 

i dont think you're overreacting about those associated with BN and their silence on this. it's disgusting at best and enabling at worst.

 

I hold the band very responsible for saying nothing.

Zack said something, and while I personally woulda said more, that's just because I'm me and I talk a lot and don't particularly care about burning bridges, a luxury I pretty singularly have. If it's true he's not working with the label any longer, his statement and wanting time away from internet makes total sense to me. Him saying, "I support the victim. I condemn those who harass her." is far, far more than anyone in Brand New was capable of doing.

 

yeah i understand that completely. and yes, you are right about that. i just wish more people with potential platforms would do more than just the bare minimum of what should be expected, but it's not really up to us to expect that.

 

I think it's a good move on Zarillo's part. I don't understand/like this concept of ridicule and criticism without knowing exactly what is/should be expected from every person's standpoint that is associated to these situations.

 

Even if they came out and made further statements, while I'd appreciate it, I think they've waited too long. It's too late for a "good" sense of closure in the whole ordeal.

I don't know what scenario could drive me to support anything they do ever again, in fact, I don't believe a scenario exists.

 

I'm 100% there with you on that. I meant it more so about people involved by association. Jesse broke the law on several occasions, and then continued that behavior throughout his career behind closed doors. Upon having a chance to address those accusations, he ignored them completely. The band did nothing in regards to victim harassment and have been silent. Probably waiting and hoping for it to blow over so they can announce a final tour. I hate the entire situation, and I wish there was more of a focus on educating people on abuse/sexual harassment rather than expecting those who've wronged women, or any victim, to be the ones to show us what the right things to say are or the right ways to handle it within days of their shitty actions being unveiled.

 

What do you want from him? To support the victims? Check. To cut ties with the abuser? Check. Leave his job in which he worked for an abuser? Check. I got to say, I think you're anger is misdirected.

Jesse groomed underage women, the band stayed silent. That's where your anger should be, not some guy who was formerly employed by them who supports the victims.
