Well they played a 7,500 venue and there were probably 400 people there, including me. The venue staff actually closed all the seats because we all fit on the floor just fine.

holy crap, they misjudged their audience in the area that bad?

It's so interesting to me how drastically a band's popularity can vary demographically. When I saw them last week they filled at the very, very least 3/4ths of a 6,200 cap venue (and by the look of it, the show had to be nearly sold out) and when I saw them with Modest Mouse they absolutely packed a 10,000 cap ampitheater. I live in Michigan.

Haha, yeah. I was very surprised that they picked the arena in town because we have a great 2,500 cap theater that most bands their size play. Still a fun show, even if it might have been disappointing for them.

They sold out Providence Ampitheater in KS when they were with Modest Mouse, and that was an 18k cap.

What can I say? Emo in Montana is a hard sell. People here like their bluegrass and folk. And rap. Basically everything but emo.

he seemed to go raspy after going all out on Quiet Things at the MPLS show. that one and nightmare sounded spot on vocally. the rest of the deja set sounded a little rough, but he seemed to recover in time for Play Crack the Sky.

He was super raspy in Grand Rapids too, but it worked in his favor imo

It takes him a song or two to really get warmed up. At least that's what I've noticed from some of their sets on Youtube.

Wait, what? 400 people? That can't be right. They probably haven't played a show that small since like 2001.

Maybe 450? Idk, it was a pretty small show. Definitely a weird region, it's 3 hours from Spokane, 5 from Billings, etc.

There was a girl behind me at my show who yelled out "70 Times 7!" between Archers and Handcuffs, as if they were going to decide to not play the final track on the album and go for that one instead.

I've only considered yelling out on this tour because I knew Moshi Moshi was never on the actual setlist so I thought if I could yell at the right time, maybe he'd play it... But I'm not an inconsiderate asshole so I kept quiet and enjoyed the show.
