Been patiently waiting for this podcast... His DCFC/Kanye episodes were great. Holding off to listen to it on my plane ride to Portland on thursday.

Master of not knowing what the hell I'm doing.

We're a little far past it now but I absolutely adore Handcuffs, just the way they make it so simplistic musically, it feels like the last bit of energy from an exhausting, emotional album, so tonally it kinda fits in that sense for me. Jesse manages to really throw away the lyrics in a lot of places in a manner that is kinda detached, without feeling, like he's taking on the perspective of someone that is beyond saving and looking at it as a character piece rather than from his own/Vin's perspective makes it feel easier to attach to? I dunno, to me it feels like a parallel to Me v Maradonna v Elvis in some ways thematically and I love it for that.

Also, most likely a very unpopular opinion here, but I prefer Battalions to Archers. The latter as well as Not The Sun to a certain extent feel like they stand out a bit too much on the album, like a tiny bit stylistically off, whereas with Battalions being a demo it's easier to look at and enjoy the track objectively. I do love both of them though.

On that podcast, I laughed out loud at "In 2004 and 05, Brand New was the scene. Everyone else was just an opener."

I thought it was funny how he said that blink-182 was one of the bands that broke out after YFW was released or something along those lines.

I think Handcuffs is a very underwhelming final song that does the rest of the album no justice. It lacks finality to me.

On a regular basis I listen to: Lead Singer Syndrome, The Mike Herrera Hour, Going Off Track, Get In The Bus, Turned Out A Punk, Someone Who Isn't Me, Break It Down and 100 Words Or Less. There's a few others I'm subscribed to but the ones I named I rarely miss an episode.

And subscribed! I'll check it out soon for sure.

Thanks all who are checking it out! We started it two weeks ago so it'll get better and better as we get more comfortable and smooth with it. I'm already pretty proud of how it's going so far though

I'll give some of those a shot. I'm pretty pick with podcasts, I listen to like.... zero because I typically don't like listening to people give opinions? I think that's what it is for me, which is why I like Casey Bates & Song Exploder, because it's just telling a story of how something was created. The only other podcasts I listen to are Serial and Mystery Show, for the same reasons it seems

Lead Singer Syndrome is probably my favorite. If you don't know anything about it it's hosted by Shane from Silverstein and it's really just a conversation, fly on the wall style, with other frontmen/frontwomen. There's really no opinions and it just offers really cool insight. It's the only one I've listened to religiously since it started every Monday.

I don't think that's what he meant. He names a bunch of bands that weren't emo, including Blink, and said something like "it was a good time to be a sad kid."

Just realized I forgot to plug Encore (yikes!). Definitely a little more opinionated at times but I often find myself fully onboard with their views plus it's all in the Chorus family so it's a no brainer.

I did take small issue with him getting the Millstone lyrics wrong though. And him calling Mike Sapone "Mike Capone."
