Yeah I wonder if that means actual new music not just IAAN/Sealed to me. Also is it just me or does anyone else think they just scrapped the album idea altogether and now it will just be a strange demise/end like they said....

No no, they say about how those songs aren't edited enough and later mention their demise - it's not just you! There isn't really specific mention of the album. That being said, it does seem to heavily imply that they're working on a TDAG beater and aren't happy with what they have at the moment. And they also mentioning playing new music at shows!

 

I haven't reread it again but to me it almost seemed like they are implying we can't top it so we aren't going to release anything until its close/good enough to their liking that it merits being released but who knows when that will be. Could be in 2018, could be never.

 

Did you go to their December 2007 shows at Cleveland HOB? That was on their tour with mewithoutYou and Thrice.

11 songs from TDAG each night but never the album in its entirety or in order. If setlist.fm is to be believed they played Handcuffs during the night 1 set (I was there but can't remember if they played it or not).

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the show next month! Do you think they play TDAG in its entirety, have a brief intermission and then play something like 8-10 additional songs?

 

I saw them play House of Blues in March of 2007 (I remember they played a cover of Weezer's Butterfly, which was unreal) but I unfortunately missed those back-to-back nights in December. I had just graduated college in May of 2007 and got a job in October of 2007 working 2nd shift and was too new to take any vacation time or anything.

I don't even see the band having a brief intermission for this tour. When I saw them play Deja front to back in Cincinnati in 2013, they finished with Play Crack the Sky and then immediately went into a random 9 song set (opening with Noro - for the first time ever).

TDAG has always been my favourite album by any artist, and is immensely popular with BN fans - I can see why they would take a step back and want to ensure their final album lives up to their previous work. I personally think, while maybe at this point they should be able to top it, it's a feat I can't comprehend. If it does? Peas and RICE will I lose my mind.

 

If it's regarding a full album I get it. Since it's looking like I Am A Nightmare was a one off spring/summer single, I can see why it wouldn't get the same level of scrutiny from the band as a full album would.

 

Maybe the reaction to IAAN made them rethink the music they had ready for the album?

 

I've thought that, but as Jason rightly pointed out - it's done massively well, has been played all over the radio and got a lot of attention. It might be far from a fan favourite (I enjoy it, but it's not their best) but it's quite popular still. Think it's just a case of them getting in their own heads again. Jesse has said plenty of times that they write things and then weeks/months later they just loathe them. I did notice them start to ween it out of the setlist on the last tour pretty quickly.

 

Could you imagine if they ever wrote another album on the same level as devil and god?

I like daisy more but I know that Devil and god is the better album and i think it may be the best rock album of all time. If they managed to come close to it wow.. i don't even know what I would do haha

Yea I think that if they are seriously trying to make something as good as devil and god I would Wait another year.

 

I'm gonna love it as long as it's better than Corey Feldman's album. Which it will be by default. So I'll love it.

Yeah.

I'm still sticking to my theory based on the words that was on whatever that new merch was. It was something like "It's coming....it'll be here when the other thing's at an end" or something to that effect. Basically, I think they're going to release an album close to when they break up.

It was more than that. It was some cryptic statements on whatever one of the recent merch was. I cant remember if it was the tapes, or the single vinyl, or what it was. We were all talking about it in this thread I believe, that's where I originally mentioned my theory.

 

It might really just simply mean that we will get the album when they feel like it's finished.
