Kids are HYPED. I'm not, but I can't complain with all of the stellar bands they've toured with in recent years.

Seeing some rumblings that the announcement is coming today.

I've now heard today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday). I just think that nobody knows.

Please be kind. Like actually kind though.

The Front Bottoms are amazing and I totally throw them in as the fourth member of the Brand New/Machester/KevDev trio.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I really wish Modern Baseball wasn't on this. I would love if it was Kevin Devine instead.

Possible that they push the announcement up because of all the leaks.

Where are those rumblings coming from? Inside source?

I don't think any sources except for the band and their management know anything.

I've hated on them for a while now so I just put them on to see if I was being irrational or what. I don't hate it nearly as much as I used to, but I definitely don't see the hype.

True - I should be happy I've seen them so many times which such great support each (well, most) time.

I love Modern Baseball and TFB but they seem like an awkward duo to open for Brand New. Fingers crossed for a Grand Rapids stop though!

Back on Top (the most recent one) is where I'd start. Far and away their most polished release. The other albums I will only listen to a few songs off.

Eh, I don't know about that. Last summer I saw The Front Bottoms play in a bowling alley in Lakewood, Ohio. in 2013 I saw them play in a bar with a capacity of 250 people in Akron. Brand New can sell out a 5K venue easily (and sold out Madison Square Garden - yes I know Modest Mouse helped, but still).

I'm not so sure Front Bottoms can sell out a 1,000 person venue and I LOVE The Front Bottoms. They've been one of my favorite 3 or 4 bands for the past 4 years.

I do think this is an odd pairing though as the their musical styles couldn't be more different.

I think Back on Top is their most poppy and as others say - polished record. Self-Titled, Talon and Rose are a little more raw in the production, which I really like. The Front Bottoms definitely aren't for everyone though. If I had to rank albums I'd go:

    1. Self-Titled
    2. Talon
    3. Rose
    4. Back on Top

No disrespect to Back on Top because I still really like that album a lot. They're one of my favorite bands.

The Front Bottoms sold out a 2k cap venue in DC months early. They are huge.

Also, they've toured with Brand New before. They're friends. It's not weird at all.

He played bass for The Front Bottoms at Lolla, so maybe he will be there . . .

Not saying they aren't friends, just saying their musical styles are different. And as you point out, probably have different fans (if you're suggesting people will leave after Front Bottoms).

And perhaps I did underestimate their popularity. I can only speak about the venues they've played in Northeast Ohio over the past 2-3 years, which have been smaller.

I wouldn't be surprised if the front bottoms were huge influences on Modern Baseball. vocally there are a lot of similarities (someone is going to be mad at me for saying this)

eh timing wise they came out around the same time

Two years ago the "different fans" didn't really exist. Most of their explosion/younger fanbase came from the Fueled By Ramen push

i thought fb started way earlier, but didn't really get noticed til around the time sports came out

yeah that's what i mostly meant. s/t came out in mid 2011, sports was late 2012, talon was mid 2013. so i'm not sure the influence aspect was there at that point

Front Bottoms sold out a 2000 person venue in Cleveland last October. Modern Baseball played the same venue in June but didn't sell it out.

as much as i want to see brand new after missing them at MSG, i honestly might pass if these are the bands they're touring with. front bottoms are alright but i'm not really interested in seeing them again.
