I feel like its a little too upbeat to be on Daisy personally. That record came off as doom & gloom.. this song (all 30 seconds of it at least hah) doesn't to me. I really love some songs off that record like Sink, At The Bottom, Vices, and You Stole but found the overall record to be proof that Lacey and co. are human after all. Meaning: they made some really poor choices for the follow up to one of my favorite records of all time.
man, this is such a lame post. you cant talk like Daisy is an objectively bad record. (i cant believe im still having this argument 7 years later)... but seriously dude, that was just a bad way to word it. "the band made some bad choices" - if that were true they wouldnt play those songs live anymore. if you dont like the record - whatever, i couldnt give 2 flying craps, but dont be all "those guys are human because they didnt re-write Devil and God"
Please act less like a fanboy and more like an adult? First off; I actually can talk like Daisy was a letdown (notice how I never said it was a bad record?) because it's my opinion and it's not like I am in the minority anyhow. TDAGARIM impacted me so hard and I have such an attachment to it (we all have those records) that when the new record was announced, I was positive that it would deliver. I kept playing the record and telling myself "this is great, this is.. great?" over time I recognized it's not a bad record, heck- its even a pretty good record.. but its nowhere near the greatness of the record that came before. I just had to take Lacey off the pedestal I put him on. Yeah it was I who put him up there so I'm not saying anything against the band- just sharing my thoughts on my least favorite record by them. We good now? cool.
This year is going to be one hell of a year for music. So excited for this. So happy because of this announcement.
I have to be in a specific mood for Daisy but I like it quite a bit on the rare occasion that I reach for it. Strange record
Alriggght, i dont think me saying "you cant objectively say its a bad record" is fanboy-ish. thats a little bit of a stretch. i said in my post "i dont care if you dont like this record". really, i dont. im still going to sleep at night. i just thought it was a little harsh saying the band "made some poor choices" just because you and a bunch of people didnt like the album. I hated the last Refused album... did they make wrong choices? no - i just dont like the music Refused is making now.
Well again; I never said the record is bad. Do I think the band went in a wrong direction in following up to the massive record DAG was? Yes. Does Lacey care what the fans think? Probably not. Regardless, everyone is entitled to an opinion (for better or for worse..) and mine is that the band made some poor choices on Daisy.
Was busy all weekend with birthdays and Bay to Breakers but I finally listened to it after work and was like GOT.DAMN. Seriously, my phone overheated from all the fire.
