Their Instagram post of the tour poster said: "Not our last tour, but good chance it's the last time we ever roll through a few of these cities." There are still some pretty big cities on this current tour that they'll likely play again. I'm guessing a summer or fall tour next year supporting new album and then a final tour in summer of 2018.
I grew up around Portland, still spend many of my weekend summers there. Brand New fits the Portland vibe perfectly so I am glad they came up to visit as well!
I didn't feel that at the Cleveland show, but with three bands on the bill and all with a pretty good following, it wouldn't surprise me if they feel/seem rushed. The last 4 or 5 times I've seen Brand New, there was only one opener so both bands had time for their sets and set-up time in between sets. I was actually shocked how quickly The Front Bottoms went on after Modern Baseball. It only took TFB 15 minutes to go on stage once Modern Baseball wrapped up. Normally it's 25-30 minutes in between bands.
Anyone need tickets for the San Jose show? Ended up with an extra. Willing to sell for below cost (which was $50).
I don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet, but the clips shown leading into Untitled all seem to come from their YFW promo DVD. Also, they soundchecked Jesus and Deguasser (multiple times), plus Jaws and Bride. Not sure if any other songs were played since the wind and group chatter in line started picking up. The lighting last night was the most scaled down of the tour so far. Only two of the five video screens were used, three of the six light stands, and they didn't have some of the lights above the front of the stage. I was still impressed with the production. Although part of me felt like we weren't getting the full effect. Then again, it's hard to complain when you get a chance to see them in a smaller setting (1,500 cap).
do you only go to shows in huge venues? it's a little different with bigger venues but most shows i go to (which are usually 1200 caps and less, leaning towards the smaller side) 15 minutes is assumed for example, the joyce manor show i went to was crying 8:30-9, hotelier 9:15-10, joyce manor at 10:15
No, hardly ever go to bigger venues. Mostly House of Blues-sized type of venues. I can't think of any shows at all I've been too where 15 minutes is all there is in between sets, unless I'm at like a REAL small venue (200-300 cap) and there's little to no set up.
For this tour, Front Bottoms finished at 8:45 and Brand New didn't go on until 9:20...That's 35 minutes right there.
eh that's a bit different since brand new has a huge stage setup and stuff, the 15 between mobo and TFB is normal
Mobo just finished playing at the Reno date and they sounded amazing. The Weekend really shines in a live setting. Brendon seemed pretty happy and had adorable dances.
I want to describe how good Brand New's live show is but words strong enough don't exist so just trust me.
What time has Brand New been playing? I'm thinking about going to the Allentown date but I'm driving from about an hour away.
They still ended with Untitled. So reverse order and finished the normal set with Sowing Season, went off stage for a minute and then came back for Untitled.
I actually really enjoyed it, probably because most of my fav tracks are the first half of the album so having it at the end of the show was great. Opening with handcuffs was really beautiful, since it's not a track we hear often and was never one of my favs anyways. Also, Jesse threw in a verse of monster mash in degausser which was awesome. Crowd was a bit tame but other than that show was great. Feeling the end is near especially with all the old videos of the band they play before the untitled encore, but glad they are stretching this out for another 2 years!
Ya, I personally thought getting it backwards was awesome. I loved that we got Sink and Gasoline instead of Nightmare also. My only complaint is that they played Play Crack the Sky instead of Soco because it's my wife's 4th time seeing them and she's gotten Play Crack all 4 times and was really hoping for Soco.
