I can't speak for him, but I imagine he's alluding to the reasons why terrorist organizations like ISIS exist, rather than saying ISIS itself is a force for good.

Anti violence on all fronts no matter what is a very easy position to take from the perspective of a non oppressed class. if you put yourself in the point of view of people who are oppressed it's not hard to see that violence is often necessary to liberate people. Do you think American slaves could have been liberated without violence? The Haitians? What about the entire war that was fought over the Holocaust? Violence is necessary to overthrow violent oppressors. Police are oppressors and they have no problems using violence themselves.

 

Well he condoned an Isis attack in Edmonton, so I'm taking him at his word.

 

I already answered this. I agree with you, violence is needed at times. An Isis terrorists stabbing someone isn't one of them.

for the record, I disagree with isolated violence against police officers, but I completely understand those who see police as domestic terrorists, which is why I am hesitant to delete/suspend people on those grounds.

I'll leave it to @Jason Tate to decide what action to take here, as I've become unwittingly invested in the discussion. I maintain that this thread isn't the place to have this discussion, even if this has become a chat thread.
